It sounds like you have a failing relay/valve that wont stay open when current is passed through them, check there first otherwise your control board could have water/heat damage remove inspect and if necessary replace let me know how it goes :)

I think you will need to unplug the pin plug under the cover at top or bottom hinge. Check the voltage and if OK leave unplugged until you can remove the dispenser and I will try to help you from the power source. Sounds like a short in the board and related to the light socket. The fuse only stopped the short from doing further damage, You may need to locate the short before replacing the fuse or board. I have looked over the wiring diagram. If you find the short without my help just be sure to replace the fuse with the correct size. The only things are the chute heater or something in that area of the board went to ground. Do you have a voltage meter? Contact me later when ready, Sea Breeze

Check for a device called a damper in the refrigerator compartment. It controls how much cold air from the freezer is sent to the refrigerator. In my recent experience with a bad damper in a GE side by side, the damper door broke and the refrigerator got too cold. The damper door could be broken or the motor failed and left the door closed. If this happens, the refrigerator compartment will not get enough cold air from the freezer and run warmer than normal. Check the appliance parts web sites for a breakdown of you model. You may find it's a major disassembly to get to the control. What I did was remove the bad part and control the airflow from the freezer with a partial blockage until I got a new part and the time to repair it.

Hotpoint ctx18ea fridge not cooling

Kimberley, try this:

First see any sign of ice build up in the freezer.

1. Switch off power from wall outlet.
2. Open the fridge door and freezer door and keep them open for atleast 5-6 hours. Salvage whatever food you can.
3. You may now see a puddle of water under the fridge. Clean the floor and inside of the fridge if water and other fluids visible .
4. Now re-connect power and set the recommended settings- usually at 4. Close doors.
5. Your fridge will be making a humming sound. Let it begin to cool.
Good luck

Hotpoint HSM25GFTA SA DEFROST PROBLEM

you have a computer board in the back of the machine part number WR55X10942 everything runs through this board.look at this diagram, unplug the machine, remove everything out of the freezer and remove the back inside wall of the freezer, then remove the computer board cover, you'll see like a grey or bluesh looking connector with three pins, this is your defrost, the pin on the left is for the compressor,i unplug the connector, get two pieces of wire, stick them into the grey connector, one in middle and the other in the right side then with aligator clips clip them to the middle and right side post, plug it back in this way the compressor doesn't run,now check to see if the heater comes on,if it doesn't read out the heater with a meter, also if the heater doesn't come on common problem is a bad t-stat,you can cut the two wires going to the t-stat and connect them bypassing the t-stat,plug it back in if the heater comes on then you have a bad t-stat,if it doesn't then you have a bad computer board and change the t-stat.one more thing, there's a sensor on the top of the coil,it looks like a white bullet,if it has a black ring around it where the wires come out of it change it,the new sensor is all white, part number wr55x10025 and the t-stat is WR50X10068 go here to see parts http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Hotpoint-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-HSM25GFTASA/1811/0165000?searchedModel=HSM25GFTA&blt=
hope this helps, heater part number WR51X10055,if the heater looks all black inside the glass but reads good with meater change it out it's on it's way out if discolored

I have a Hot Point HSM25GFRF SA refrigerator, first the ice maker / water stopped working then the the refrigerator started making a clicking noise and every time it clicks the fsn does one rotation then...

I have the exact same problem.
It stopped dispensing water and ice, then it started to make a clicking noise and now the freezer and the refrigerator don't work.

It's interesting that this failure occurred 3 months after the 5 year warranty expiration.

We have a Hotpoint side by side fridge. It always makes

check the door in the dispenser if moisture is condensing and freezing so that the door won't open try manually popping the door open just before you attempt to dispense ice, maybe you'll get lucky, otherwise your going to have to get a technician to come and check the micro-switch for the dispenser

Water is leakig from behind the control panel

You did the right thing by trying to clear the drain in the back of the freezer, but it must not have cleared. If the ice maker is not leaking then the only other source of water can be defrosting ice build up on the evaporator coils when it goes through its cycle. You know your drain is clear when water can flow down it. Defrosting your refrigerator completly usually solves this. If it does not, then check to make sure the freezer compartment fan is working, next it may be either your thermostat or timer control. Those are pretty much the only possibilties.

Have a hotpoint rsf60 fridge/freezer,noticed over temp red light on, defrosted as ice buid up on top shelf of freezer.light still on red temp set at 3/4 ?

The red warning light will not go out?

1. Has the fridge freezer just been
installed? If so, this is normal and the
light will go out when the correct
temperature has been reached.

2. Has the fridge freezer been loaded
with a large quantity of food? If so,
the light will go out when the correct
temperature has been reached.

3. Have the doors been closed
properly?
