Is a sewing machine vintage at 20 years or at 40 years old

That is probably a personal definition. To me, a vintage machine would be one that is more mechanical than computerized. .Some (below) seem to think it would be a heavy metal mechanical machine. But, to throw a monkey wrench into the discussion, what differentiates vintage from antique?

When I move my needle to 4.0. Or 4.5, the needle now moves to far over to the right.

The needlebar position is off. You may want to take it for service.

Do you like this machine? You've used it for several years, know how to use it, etc. What does a general service cost? Perhaps $100-150. So where would you find a replacement machine for that amount? It is generally recommended that machines be serviced once a year, so you have saved enough over the years to afford a service call.

IMHO, I'd rather fix an older machine that I love than buy a new machine that doesn't work as well as the old one...

How does Walmart's two year replacement plan for sewing machines work?

Basically, the plan works from the moment you purchase it until two years is up.
If at any point within those two years, any part in your sewing machine breaks, you are entitled to a reimbusement for the full price you purchased it for, including tax.
Here is a link to the plan on Walmart's site that gives you some more detail:

I was sewing a seam machine was working fine after sewing for 5 minutes then the motor stopped.

the motor needs to be checked to see if it went out.
it's not good for a sewing machine to sit up for years. and a cloth cover needs to be used to keep the dust off the machine.

I have not sew with my machine in about a year or two do i oil it or just start to sew.. it not making no noise or any thing..

It depends on how many years you have owned the machine. If the machine is less than 5 years old, I would say that it is safe to operate it without oiling. This type of machine typically has few non plastic gears. If you wish to be on the safe side you can oil the machine according to the owner's manual. Be careful not to use too much oil.

Warrantee for Esante

The 25 year warranty only applies to parts that came from the factory defective: not parts that break during use. It also only covers replacement of the part, not labor to repair nor transportation of the part.

The 25 year warranty is probably the most useless warranty in existence. Some company (that shall remain nameless,) started advertising it heavily many years ago, and everyone else followed suit to compete.

Most machines have an effective 1 year parts and labor, and 5 year electronics warranty.

For a more accurate diagnosis of your machine, bring it to a warranty station. They'll be able to tell you the warranty status of your machine as well as diagnose the problem, and repair it as necessary.
