How to set timer in powershot sx 130??

I figured out how to set the custom timer, but how do I actually get it to take timed pictures. Just pushing the button doesn't work. Canon powershot sd 900 digital elph

After setting the camera to the self-timer mode, start the timer by pressing the shutter release button.

Canon A480 - how to set self timer

According to page 57 of my copy of the A480 manual:

Press down-arrow.

Select the self-timer (the 10 inside a clockface).

Press FuncSet.

This sets the self-timer. Press the shutter halfway to focus, and fully to take the shot.

Self timer.

Press the Function button and scroll down to the Drive Mode (3rd icon down on left side of LCD). Use the left or right button to select the self timer delay (2, 10 or custom). Press Function again and you're ready. (Remember to set back to single shot when you're done!)

For the SX 110 IS 9 mp camera: With the camera in picture taking mode, Hold the bottom of the roller dial down at the point closet to the timer icon. Hold it for a couple seconds, then the screen will display the timer settings. Select the setting you want and start taking pictures.
