The right front coil caught on fire and was throughing sparks and melted my pot. The surface hot light came on after that . I unplugged the stove and the next day I replaced the coil that caught on fire plugged in the stove and the surface hot light is on and will not go off.I'm affraid to try to use the stove not sure if it's safe. I'm thinking maybe the switch is bad for that coil burner as I took the backing plate off and that switch has black dust like there was something overheating none of the other switches looks like that. Please help ASP I want to know if I can still cook with replacing the switch safley

you have a power promblem start where the cord connects to the range and go back from there to the fuses before you pull it out turn off the breakers loose connections will cause the cord to short out sometimes

If the water has been dried up, it was most likely the drip pans. Water is non flammable, sorry i couldn't help myself. If water was the problem there would be sparks and buzzing noises first.
