Frank, See if you can find a date code on it somewhere.
It's a small oval with a number and a letter stamped inside of it.
You can also google search with what you do know about gun, lots of info out there. check the link, good luck.

It could be correct, the best way to tell is look carefully at the serial number and just in front and behind it..if it looks as if it's been filed/sanded and reblued stay away from it. Obliterating, or even restamping a serial number is a federal offense.

Yes you can, those old shotguns were pretty much all the same, a lot of the parts interchange, but go to gunparts.com, they have everything there, if not, find Jackfirst, He has a ton of stuff. I have the same gun right here that was my fathers, bought in 1913 for $13, almost 100 years old!!!
