Try Pairing procedure:

  2. Bring remote within 3 feet of TV
  3. Push Pairing button (Paper Clip or other pointed object in button hole)

How to turn off timer

I wouls unplug the TV overnight and see it it resets the timer feature. To pair the remote, you need to know the code and the pairing procedure - most remotes come with a manual or you will need to spend some time on Google.

Samsung tv has never responded to the remote control

It needs to be Re-Paired to the TV.

First, fresh batteries, and clean battery contacts if needed.

Then, Try Pairing procedure:
  1. TV off
  2. Bring remote within 3 feet of TV
  3. Push Pairing button (Paper Clip or other pointed object in button hole)
  4. Turn on TV
  5. Should be paired. Try remote channel or other buttons.
  6. If not, try 2 more times.
  7. If still not working, push RESET button first and repeat Pairing.

Samsung remotes for LED / LCD TVs are generally RF, not IR.
Most Universal remotes do not generate RF signals, so disregard advice about codes for Universals.

My sansung remote quite working, replacement universal remote was programed to the tv but the tv will still not respond. What's next?

You likely don't need a new remote. Certainly not a Universal.

Samsung remotes for LED / LCD TVs are generally RF, not IR.
Most Universal remotes do not generate RF signals, so disregard advice about codes for Universals.

I have a 2004 Toshiba color TV 27".

simply look up the codes or contact your cable company for the toshiba tv codes to input into the cable remote. you may also be able to operate the cable box via the TV remote if the correct codes from the tv owners manual are entered.
