You may need to reset the polarity.

Testimonial: "How would you reset polarity and on what. I switched the black and white wires back correctly in the plug on my feed cable. I can energize the 120 volt plugs in the RV, but all else trips my GFI. I'm wondering if all 3 went bad due to this problem. Maybe the capacitor in the AC and the electronic board on the inverter. ? I'm puzzled"

2003 cameo 35ks3 RV, GFI 110v receptacle at bathroom vanity is causing the GFI on the 110v power supply from my house to trip. The GFI receptacle at vanity is new. what must be done to solve problem?

If the house GFCI trips only when the vanity receptacle circuit has power then likely the neutral and ground wires inside the vanity GFCI enclosure are in contact with each other.

To isolate the problem, suggest you pull the vanity GFCI receptacle out of the enclosure but leave all wires connected. Make sure no little hands can get near it. Then power on and see if it still trips the house breaker. If it doesnt trip then likely the vanity GFCI ground wire was touching the neutral.

I have a 2013 solera have an adapter to plug it into 120 volt gfi recep. to keep batteries charged. When all the breakers are turned on it trips the GFI.

Either the GFI is defective, (try that first) or something plugged into it is shorted. I have seen many GFI trip issues that were related to the device and not what is plugged in to it.

When activated, the thermostat stays on for about 45 sec. and then kicks out indicating a gfi problem . . . this seems far too sensitive . . . can I override this in some manner?? Thanks, Wayne

You can replace the wall outlet with a GFI type and cut the ac cord end off and install a basic 3 prong for 120 volt system. AC unit controls don't like ground faults and should be corrected. The cord gfi may be going out.

Outlets not working all fuses are good

VOLT
AC
SYSTEM
The following electrical components (if so equipped) will only operate when your
RV is connected to shore power: 120 to
12-volt power converter, air conditioner,
120-volt refrigerator, microwave oven, television(s), fireplace and appliances
plugged into convenience receptacles.

SECTION 6 - ELECTRICAL SYSTEM JAYCO TOWABLE

120-
VOLT
CIRCUIT
BREAKERS
The 120-volt AC circuit breakers located in
side the main load center protect all
120-volt wiring and components in the RV fr
om circuit overloads and short circuits.
Should a circuit overload or short circui
t occur the circuit breaker protecting the
affected circuit will "trip" preventing the flow of electricity through that circuit.
If a circuit breaker trips, shut "off"
the appliance on that circuit (i.e., power
converter etc.) and allow the circuit breaker to cool down for a brief period of time.
After the cooling down period, reset the circuit breaker by moving its lever "off" and
then back to the "on" position. If the circuit breaker re-trips or frequently trips,
contact your dealer to have the electrical problem diagnosed and repaired.
A circuit breaker identification label is permanently attached to the inside surface
of the 120-volt load center.
Maintenance and Replacement
At the beginning of camping season, inspect the circuit breakers and replace as
needed. Test by turning each circuit breaker "off" and back "on". Circuit breakers
are wearable parts and must be replaced
as needed, as part of your RV
maintenance. If you have any questions, consult your dealer.
Please contact your dealer for repair assistance when replacing circuit breakers.
CONVERTER
The power converter converts 120-volt AC power to useable 12-volt DC power
when the shore power cord is connected to an external power source.
The converter has a built-in protective thermal breaker that will shut it down should
overheating occur. Overheating can be
caused by operating the converter above
its maximum power output for an extended period of time, or by an obstruction to
its ventilation air flow. To reduce converter heat build keep unnecessary 12-volt
lights and motors turned "off"
.
Keep the converter cooling fins and fan clear of
obstructions.
Inspection and maintenance
If the 12-volt power converter is not working (auxiliary battery not being charged)
check the reverse polarity fuse(s) in the converter fuse panel.
There are no
customer serviceable parts inside the converter case and the
manufacturer's warranty will be void if
the case has been removed
. If you
have further concerns contact your dealer.

What is reverse polarity

Reverse polarity means in a dc voltage scenario (boat camper anything 12 volt Dc) thatvthe positive ( red) and the negative ( black ) have been switched or reversed. In a 120 volt ac scenario (house ,garage , outlet etc.) It means the hot
( black ) and the neutral ( white) are reversed.
hope this helps.

This is the solution I rec'd earlier re my De Longhi Pinguino AC 10,000 BTU. If you're in San Diego CA could you make a house call to fix my AC by replacing the cord/plug?\r\n The portion of the plug that...

Never remove a GFI. It is there for a reason. If your plug is has a bad GFI, you can replace the plug with a standard one but make sure you replace where it plugs into with a GFI receptacle which only cost about 30 bucks, or you could replace the breaker that feeds that circuit with a GFI breaker. The problem with replacing the breaker is that if you place any resistance head loads on it (i.e. blow dryer, toaster), it might trip because you get a loss of current from resistance heat. The GFI only looks at what is going in and what is going out. If it sees an imbalance of up to 20 milli amps, it will trip. Your cheapest way is replace with a standard plug and add a GFI plug receptacle to where it plugs into.

My refrid keeps tripping the gfi breaker . I have replaced the gfi but problem continues. Is this most probably a refrigerator problem or a house wiring problem ?

It depends on the GFI size. The refrigerator draws 9.9 amps. If you have a GFI that is too close to this, it will pop. Don't over rate the receptacle unless you have the wiring to match. You could always put in a regular receptacle.

Trips GFCI receptacle for laundry circuit.

I ran into this problem with a washer this summer. the gfi breaker needs to be replaced. it is weak and trips easily. if you can run an extension cord to an outlet without the gfi andrun your washer, you probably will not have any issues. that is what I found with the washer this summer. when it was plugged into the gfi, itwould trip. but when I had it plugged into a regular outlet, it was fine.
