Hi, is your TP-Link a dsl or an adsl router? & if you connect directly to the router without the switch do you get Internet? Or is it just when you connect the gigabit switch that you don't get Internet?

Hi Andy, am using wimax so I have a cable from the radio which enters the pc which has WAN and LAN Network cards.then the network switch. So I can only connect to the switch.

You will have to do the initial set up. There should be a disc that came with the router that will guide you through step by step. If you do not have a disk then you will have to get on the internet somewhere else and load the software from the manufactures site.

Testimonial: "Fortunately I found the problem was with the channels it had a default channel 1 so changed it to auto and the countryselected had blocked channels by default. Thanks Guys."

SOURCE: cant access internet but can connect to wireless TP-link router

Your friend is able to go online using the same wireless network. that means the wireless network is working properly and there might be a problem with your computer .
You said that you can connect to the wireless network but you can not go online.
Check the IP address and the default gateway of the computer.
Try to ping the router and DNS server and check what happens.
Make sure that there is no static IP address on the computer.

Click Here for more information about the routers and Internet.

Make sure you have DHCP setup. Check the settings on your router and make sure everything is configured correctly.

SOURCE: I'm using TP-LINK TD-W8101G ADSL

Unfortunately, you can't use two routers together in that manner. You must have a device in between them such as a switch or bridge or you'll have to disable the DHCP server settings in the second router. The second router then pretty much becomes a switch you may then use all the ports on the second router with the exception of the WAN port it must remain unoccupied. However, if you need wireless connectivity in another location far away from your main router then your only solution would be to indeed purchase an actual access point/bridge device

Reconnect the wireless to your phone. Most Likely your phone will be the problem, not the TP Link.

Use the Factory Default Reset button: First, turn off the AP's power. Second, press and hold the default Reset button then turn on the AP's power, until the system LED lights up (about 3 seconds). Last, release the reset button and wait for the AP to reboot.

Reset the factory defaults.

Reset the router

1. On the back of your router there is a little black reset button. Use a pen or paper clip and press down for 10 seconds. Make sure the lights on the router stop blinking for one second. Release the button and make sure to reset your wireless security and network ID.
2. If that doesn't work just unplug your routers power cord. This is the easiest way to reset your internet connection without resetting your router to factory settings.
3. If neither of those work, unplug the power cord of your modem. This will completely reset the internet connection without resetting the routers settings.
