SOURCE: unusual display on panel (padlock) machine can't be programmed door is not locked however

i just went through the same thing.......you need to hold the option and extra rinse buttons simultaneously for 6 seconds, this will unlock it.....so turn the machine on and press the two icons, dont worry about the beeping and flashing after 6 seconds the padlock symbol will go and you can use the machine as usual.....i wish they put that 'minor detail' in the manual...cheers!!

Model W2240. I wish to replace the drain motor but to gain excess to it I have to first remove the front panel and then the L/H side panel.

The closest video I could find has you take the top of, dismantle the control panel, and end up with about 6 different kinds of screw to keep track of, all of which is unnecessary, at least on the W2240 and similar models.

Dry inside the door seal if necessary. Undo the 10mm bolt at the bottom of the door opening. Undo T20 screws above and below the door latch. Remove the metal band around the door seal (there is a proper tool for this, but levering it off works) and peel the seal back. Remove the kick strip at the bottom of the machine, there are two small rectangular metal plates with two screws; undo the outside ones then the whole front panel can be removed downwards (the top is held in place by plastic clips - these are ******* to the frame behind the control panel, but you don't need to access that side of them). Careful removing it, with the door glass it's heavier than you might expect - not a problem but you wouldn't want to drop it on your fingers.

To remove the side panel you need to remove the top panel (steps are obvious) and front panel as above, then it's 3 screws front, 3 top and 3 rear. All straightforward.

Replacing the side panel: there is a plastic clip bottom middle which goes in from underneath; if the panel doesn't go on flat, you got that in the wrong place.

Replacing the front panel: guide the orange door release strip through the holes behind the flap, offer the door up onto the white plastic clips (it will mostly stay in place on them), screws back in etc.

Change the door seal

Not sure if its the same type but I just changed the door seal on a Zanussi ZWF1221W washing machine. It was a lot easier than I was expecting but this way does take a bit longer. Before starting disconnect the mains and water supply and drain hose. If possible move the washing machine out so you can get around it.
First I used a small flat head screwdriver to open the teeth on the outer door seal clamp that holds the seal in place. The old seal then peels off the front of the machine. You can continue the process without taking the front of the washing machine off but it is much, much easier to take it off if you can.
To remove the front panel unscrew the two bolts at the top corners of the back panel and slide the top cover off towards the back and lift it off. Then remove the two bolts that attach the plastic control panel to the front of the machine (either end of the top, front edge), remove the detergent dispenser drawer (you need to push down on a lever at the back) and take the screw out of the front of the machine (revealed when you take out the detergent drawer). Then carefully remove the control panel and the two bolts that hold the front panel on.
Then (very carefully as washing machines are heavy) lie the machine on its back and remove the three screws from the bottom that hold the front panel on. Then unplug the cables on the inside of the front panel that operate the door lock (its a plug with a plastic cover - just pull it out but don't pull the wires!).
Now you can lift the front panel off which is the key to making this job really easy as you're not trying to fit the new seal through the door which makes it really tight.
With the machine still on its back find the spring that stretches all around the seal to hold it on the drum and remove using a flat head screwdriver to pull it out of its groove. You can now pull the old seal off.
It's a good idea to put some fabric softener or liquid detergent around the edge of the new seal to make it easier to fit on to the drum at this point.
Find the arrow that points to the top and starting here attach the groove of the new seal to the plastic drum all the way around. You have to press quite hard but you can tell when its properly attached to the drum. Once this is done replace the spring so it sits in a groove on the seal holding it to the drum.
Now replace the front of the panel of the machine by doing the reverse of all the earlier steps (remember to reattach the door lock) and stand it back up on its feet (careful it's heavy). You can now replace the top panel of the machine (slide it on and replace the two screws).
With the washing machine back upright you can attach the front of the seal to the door opening of the front panel (the arrow should be pointing upwards). Then you can reattach the clamp that holds the seal around the door opening and then secure the teeth on the clamp so it's tight (I don't know if it matters where around the seal the clamp goes but mine's at about 7 o'clock).
Now all you need to do is reattach the drain hose, water supply and mains and test it doesn't leak. A rinse cycle uses the most water apparently so it might be worth using that.
Hope this was useful.

How to change a door seal on a hotpoint wma58

Firstly remove band holding front of seal then remove the screws from the door lock and push lock through.
Remove kick plate from bottom of machine &take out 2 screws holding front of machine.
Remove soap drawer &take out screws behind it then bring facia forward & slide to right to remove. Take care at this stage not to disturb wiring on cicuit board. An extra pair of hands would be helpfull to hold it.
Remove screws holding front as you did at bottom then lift and remove front panel.
Seal is now easily accessed.
Post back if any further assistance needed.
Thankyou for using Fixya.

Replacing a rubber door seal on washer machine

1. Remove door (2 screws).
2. remove top (2 screws at back, sharp slap to front to dislodge).
3. Remove 2 screws holding powder dispenser to inlet valve.
4. Remove 2 screws at front corners securing fascia.
5. Remove fascia and powder dispenser as a unit - note plastic locating pegs on underside and plastic clips locating bottom onto front panel. Take care not to drop one of the rubber seals from valve/powder dispenser joint. Do not disconnect the wiring, just lay the complete assembly on top of the machine.
6. At some point, you will need to release the retaining wire securing the seal to the front panel. This is a thin spring loaded wire. Look after it, you will need it again.
7. Remove two screws at front securing front panel.
8. Remove kick panel - this allows access to two more screws securing bottom of front panel - take these out as well.
9. unclip the wire connector to the door switch.
The front panel may now be lifted from its plastic retainers.
10. The second wire clip can now be removed. The clever clip will need to be released to allow refitting.
11. Thoroughly clean and disinfect the seating for the new seal - you don't want the same gunk growing into the new one straight away.
12. On the drum, you will notice a protruding moulding at about 5 o'clock. There is a matching flange on the seal to help you locate it accurately - start here and fit the seal.
13. Fit the wire retainer - you will need a good pair of long-nose pliers to retension the wire.
14. Reassemble the machine in the reverse order - take care not to mix up the screws! remember to fit the seal to the front panel before refitting the door. Do not release the spring from the wire, carefully stretch it into place.
