Samsung BD-P1500 will not play blu-ray discs

I was watching "The Unborn" and I paused in the middle of the movie and did not turn off the P1500. The next day I hit play and the P1500 read "No Disc". I tried 3 different blu-ray movies that had worked previously with the same result. It even said " Cannot read disc". The system will play DVD's, but not Blu-ray. Can anyone help with this issue?

I have the exact same problem and cannot find any relevant info online. This happened after I've upgraded to the latest firmware ( & yes it was done correctly)...

I'm ready to bail out on this player, return it and switch to a pioneer...

My samsung bd-p1500 blu-ray player won't play blu-ray discs on regular ones... was having all sorts of troubles with it finally updated the firmware and now it won't play any blu-ray discs

I'm having the same problem. had my Blu-ray and my cable box plugged into my reciever. Blu-ray kept cutting out and not finding a signal while watching my Rome DVDs. I swapped HDMI cables by just switch which cable went out of my blu-ray ( I didn't change what ports they were plugged into on the reciever. That cleared up that problem. I'd assume it was a faulty HDMI cable except that it works fine on the cable box. Anyways, we were watching Iron Man on Blue-Ray and it starts to skip about 2 thirds through the movie. Same as you I updated the firmware, disabled BC-Live, No luck Don't know if the problem is hte Bluray player , the reciever or what. Everything is up to date so I don't get it at all.

My bluray player is a samsung bd-p1500 and terminator salvation the bluray wont play it never even gets to the menu?

All disc players have a thing called stacked tolerance. What it boils down to is some transports in players will not play certain discs; plain and simple.

All you can do it test it out on another BD player to make sure the disc is fine and test another disc in your BD player and make sure it hasn't gone defective.

Sorry I don't have an easy fix, this is not an uncommon problem.

Blue ray quit recognizing non BR disc

The non-blu-ray laser lens needs cleaning.

Try not to use a blast of compressed air.

Radio Shack has a lens cleaner ($13). it is an audio CD with a row of brushes on it.
Read & follow the directions.
