LG 2 year old out of warranty with ice maker that has stopped working. This is an on again off again problem. Tech support initially told me how to switch off and on holding the reset to recycle the ice maker. Nothing seemed to work. Then suggested a repair company who said no point in coming out unless I arranged to replace the ice maker at $250.00.
Then weeks later the ice maker started working and has done for last 2 months. Now stopped again. LG tech support will not assist me to try any resets. All they will advise is use an independent LG service agent to come and fix or replace. I am not happy to spend $250 + on an almost new refrigerator.
Is this typical of LG?
Any ideas on what I can try doing as I have nothing to lose?
thanks
Similar problem. Occasionally my ice maker goes on the fritz. Usually I can turn off the ice maker and place a piece of newspaper over the freezer holes for overnight and it starts making ice when I turn it back on. This time that didn't work so I unplugged it this morning for 3 hours and put all the stuff in coolers. I opened all the doors and removed the freezer bin (just the bin maa'm, not the frame) so I was sure the water lines inside the fridge doors and sides would unfreeze. Plus side is the Fridge got a good cleaning. I just heard my first ice drop about a 1/2 hour ago.
I would first turn off the ice maker overnight. Then tap the bottom and get all the condensed water out. I use a towel and I have also taken the who mechanism off the door. Once the water is removed it won't freeze and lock up the arm. It has worked for me a few times.

Maytag and its group of Companies support the
customer. I think LG should also. I have about
