This has happened to me. I was told to check the rubber gasket behind the plastic flap by squeezng it to break any freezing which may occur to prevent the water from going into the ice maker tray. This worled as well as using my blow dryer on medium for about 30 seconds to unfreeze this gasket. Worked both times with no repair bills!

Check the solenoid on the back of the fridge where the water line is hooked into it. one solenoid is for water the other is for ice this is usually the problem with the icemaker.

The icemaker does not work and the water in the door has stopped. The last time water came out it looked colored. Is there a filter that I am supposed to replace? If so where is it?

some models do have a water filter, which is either located at the bottom outside of the ref. on the kickplate,(grill), or inside the ref. itself on the ceiling. If both water to the ice maker and the drinking water stopped at the same time that is more than likely the problem.

Our icemaker will not shut the water off. I have

It's most likely the water valve in the rear of the appliance. This is located behind the rear panel to the right hand side. The valve supplies water to the ice maker on one side of the valve and water to the front panel for drinks on the other side. The water valve seems to be failing they are pretty easy to replace and not that costly if you can have a go yourself.

Hope this helps

when you look at this icemaker there are 2 sets of strippers 1 stationary the other moves. teh one that moves is normally at 2 o'clock position facing the front cover of icemaker. if these teeth are in anyother position for longer than 10-20 minutes then you most likely have a bad motor module on the icemaker, this is a very easy repair you will need partnumber 8201515 from whirlpool or local appliance supply house. thx peyton

The icemaker stop working on my Whirlpool side by side frig

If there are ice cubes setting in the icemake waiting to be dumped then the icemaker is bad. If the icemake is dry then the water valve is bad. You have one water valve with two solenoids. One works water in the door and the other sends water to the icemaker.

Whirlpool refrigerator stopped making ice.

If there are ice cubes in the icemaker sitting there waiting to be dumped then the problem is in the icemaker. If the icemaker is dry then you have a water supply problem, even if you have a water in the door working.
1.Check the fill line inside the freezer at the icemaker, if it is clogged with ice then remove this ice and replace the water valve.

2. Check the water supply. Turn the water supply off, disconnect the water line from the Ref, turn the water back on an fill a small glass. If the water supply is good the solenoid on the water valve should be checked. This is done with an OHM meter.
