check each phone make sure none of the handsets is holding up the line
eg someone did not end the call properly
When this happens the line will time out and you will get no dial tone. This is done to release the telephone switching unit at the telephone exchange . Once you find the handset that is not call ended . end the call and wait 90 seconds and try again.

At the cost of asking the obvious, please check phone line connection to the wall and the phone. Sometimes a minor disconnect can lose you dialing tone. If the phone company says line is good, try other phone jacks to see if you get dial tone.
See if you can borrow another phone known to be working, or plug your phone into someone elses home line to check out there is no fault in your phone
If all is well then you will need to contact your phone service provider.
This could be due to the fact that one of your phones is off the hook or unplugged. Check and make sure that all devices are operational and charged.. Don't forget to check the phone line itseft.
Cheers
Hi Pam,
Try these..1...remove your telephone line from base unit and fix it into a working land phone and check whether is it having normal dial tone.If it's having engage tone(beep beep...)remove paralleled phones and re connect to cordless base unit.
2.If line is ok (normal dial tone with full volume) & still display indicates line is busy, your main base unit must be having faulty components inside.Commonly these defects happen in thundering or surges through telephone lines. You have to take full set to a repair shop.
Rana.
1) if there no diallling tone test a) battery with VOM, clean the contacts batteries with ethylic alcohol with cotton swab. b) test the antenna is o.k or replace 2) the voltage line will be 48 Vdc , you must test it. use another phone that you know is working fine. 3) if the another phone work the line is the problem call to the company 4) if work replace the batte or antenaa or the phone completely. God bless you
try to make an incoming call to the phone in question by dialling the phone number from a mobile or whatever.if the phone does not ring then the line itself is not connected or has a wiring problem. so if no dial tone and no incoming calls then check the line itself
please check first the position of tone-pulse switch in tone position mostly-if your phone use battery apply new fresh battery and connect it in right direction-test the line with any other working telephone if the line is ok. the problem in your phone if no call service provider(phone company)
