Want to hook pc to tv

Do you have some type of converter that is changing the VGA connection from the laptop to a HDMI connection on the other end that goes into the TV? Otherwise, you'll need one.

If you have them both connected then on the TV you will need to select HDMI as the input.

you need to have a HDMI socket on your computer.

windows + p if you are using windows 7

If your TV has RCA jacks on the back or front. Input type. Then you can go to radio shack and get a vga cable to RCA jack converter. That is all you can do. Is the TV a flat screen if yes then you can hook up you pc with a monitor cable like your usine now in your house. Find out the type of TV.. Ask someone to check the tv for a computer port on the back.

You may have to toggle the video-out keys on your laptop to get output to the port you have your tv hooked to. Usually this is done by holding the "Fn" key and tapping the "F4" (or similar; a function key is marked with a circle in a square beside just a circle (on our Gateway laptop)). This usually toggles the output as: Laptop screen/Video out/both , in rotation. I hope this solves your problem. Good luck.

If you have a tv with HDMI use the HDMI port on the left side of the laptop. Change the sound output to HDMI first if you want to output sound through the tv.

Do you have a HDMI jack on your TV? it looks just like the blue/graphics/monitor jack on your laptop. If so use it to connect and you should be able to use your tv as a monitor. (if you tv came with the HDMI cable?, if not you can purchase one ez enough from Radio Shack)

Check your users manual for directions on how to use the remote to get it to that function. My Hansphree TV I have to put it on AUX to use my laptop hooked to it and see my TV as my lappy monitor.

try pressing FN key and F8 key to switch between screens. If that doesn't help right click on desktop, select properties, settings tab, click advanced button. there may be something in there to force the TV.

if theres nothing happening on ur pc like same as tv its probably the tv config ...
check tv setup
check tv screen saver..if it disabled it would explain why screen black...
could try checking power settings in pc(screensaver properties)

there should be an s-video plugin in the back. if correct, buy an s-video cord and plug it in from your laptop to your tv.
