Hi! I'm looking for a manual for a vintage Morse 550 zig-zag sewing machine. Need help with tension assembly.

It could be possible your machine does not have the capability of changing the needle position. Some older machines did not have that option. Otherwise, there is normally a knob or dial that will move the needle back and forth.

Looking at the pictures of the 9200, I don't see any dial or knob that could control the needle position.

check the needle plate and see if there are any burrs--if there
are gently use a small file to take off the burr

usually a tension of 3 or 4 is good
only if the presser foot not is not made for zig zag--all the presser foot's that I've seen on new machines do straight stitch & zig zag,, if the opening in the foot is large then manually try a zig zag stitch to see
