Some VHS tapes have copyright signals embedded in them. Then when the DVD recorder reads the copyright signal it will stop recording due to it thinking there is a copyright violation happening. Try testing with a VHS TAPE of a show you have recorded off the TV and see if it does the same thing .,

My Honestetch 5.0 vhs to dvd wont record. As soon as i press the record button a bubble popped up saying You can start recording by playing your camcorder or VCR

You need to connect the Video and Audio outputs from your camcorder or VHS player/recorder to the Honestech converter - Yellow is video, red and white audio. You play the tape back on the camcorder or VHS player/recorder and the video on the tape will play into the Honestech converter and will be digitised and sent via the USB connection to the PC and recorded on the PC. The Honestech cannot control your camcorder or VCR directly so you need to manually set it to play the tape.

8mm JVC tapes put into a VHS tape that will play on a combined TV and VCR. Please, please, I need your help! Found tapes from 15 years ago.

You need an 8mm player or the camera that recorded the tapes. Connect the video and audio from the 8mm player/camera to a VHS recorder. Put the 8mm on play and the VHS on record.

I have a Panasonic DMR-ES30V. I've only ever recorded from what I'm watching on the TV to a DVD. I now have a VHS tape that I'd like to record to DVD. I tried starting the dvd to record...

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

When copying a vhs tape to dvd, and there is only a short amount of video on the vhs tape, how do I just burn that and not the whole 2 hour tape? When I stop the copying it does not finalize and do not...

You must be able to watch what is being reocorded.
After the part you want to record is finished stop it.
Also the recording can be set for a set amount of time.

When recording from vhs tape, and the signal is poor at times, the machine automaticaly stops recording temporarily and resumes when the signal is more stable. how can this feature be disabled?

If you are recording VHS tapes that contain macrovision, and most commercial tapes do, you can't record them with this DVR because it is compliant with the law that says you can't do it. So don't try. Download nearly every movie/tv show from the internet instead.

If you are recording from VHS tapes that you have created yourself from TV sources, or from camera, you must stabilize the picture. There are several devices like that. Do a google search on "vhs stabilizer".

Dubbing from vcr to vcr

Connect with RCA cable to RCA jacks\plugs::
output [player] audio to INPUT [recorder]
OUTPUT [player] Video to INPUT [recorder]
*************************************************
Place blank tape in RECORDER, Tape that you want to record from into PLAYER.Press Record [recorder machine], wait one second, press PAUSE.( thats to give record tape "breathing" space.) Set up your player tape to start playing. When you know what you want to record, press PAUSE again to begining recording. Press PAUSE after the recorded section to install 2nd tape, etc. etc.
NOTE:: some VCRs use PAUSE 2nd time to release and continue recording, while some machines you must press RECORD button again to release PAUSE. you must expirement before begining your project.
