How do I troubleshoot my Samsung TV? I have sound, but no picture.

I took the back off of the TV. Checked the capacitors. None of the nine capacitors have bulging tops, leakage on the top, or any corrosion on the bottom or top of them. I think the power supply is OK. (Red light goes off and on.) Perhaps I need a new T-con board? Can't find one for this model online. Thank you.

Caps can fail with no outward signs. It takes a special meter to test them. Your set may have a back light inverter that powers the back lights. When it fails, the picture cant be seen, but you have sound, to check this look for a picture on the screen using a flashlight

My LG 42LH5000 TV is not turning on. A few days ago suddenly switched off and now it doesn't turn on. The red LED is always on. If I unplug it turns off and when I plug again the LED is red again.

I had the same problem with Samsung. A web search located the issue being the capacitor. Take out the back and look for the capacitor near where the power line enter the TV. It was a 100 uF at 4050 volts capacitor. checked the DC voltage to be 381 volts. Got two old capacitor from an old TV - one was 150 uF at 400 volts and one was 220 uf at 400 volts. It turned out that it needs two in parallel (making 370 uf at 400 volts. Took out the under rated 100 uf and replaced it with these two. Checked the voltage to be 390 volts. That did the job. Samsung must have tried to save money by putting in a 100 uf at 450 volts. .

No picture but have sound

Hi,
Your TV have problem with the back light inverter board. This type of complaint can occur under two circumstances.
1.Faulty electrolytic capacitor in the power supply board
2. The back light inverter board.

If you have knowledge in electronics then check the power supply for any faulty or budged electrolytic capacitor. Have adde the picture of faulty electrolytic capacitor how it will look like. check the link. faulty capacitor .

If the are no such faulty electrolytic capacitor then you have to replace the back light inverter board. There is no repair possible with inverter board because its spares are rarely available.

You have didn't mention any model number of your TV. so its not possible to add the exact picture of the inverter board.
