Comm error 388

Here's some info and possible steps to take. This is from the HP website.

Error 388 for a HP LaserJet 3050

The local machine has originated a fax session and detected a remote fax machine but has been unable to detect any T30 frames. If the machine is in V.17 mode, it is likely the connection has been interrupted. In V.34 mode is also possible for this error to occur due to compatibility problems with certain machines and/or line conditions.

Solution:

1. Reattempt the fax transmission at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.

2. Disable V.34 on the local machine and attempt the transmission using the V.17 mode. ( See error 227 for changing to a slower speed or disabling V.34 .)

Disable V.34 on local machine V.34 is the modem protocol used by the product to send faxes. It is the worldwide standard for full-duplex modems sending and receiving data across telephone lines at 1,200 or 2,400 bps. The default setting for V.34 is ON . Follow the steps below to disable V.34 setting.
  1. Press Menu/Enter .
  2. Press the < or > buttons to select Fax Setup , then press Menu/Enter .
  3. Press the < or > buttons to select All Faxes , then press Menu/Enter .
  4. Press the < or > buttons to select V.34 , then press Menu/Enter .
  5. Press the < or > buttons to select OFF , then press Menu/Enter to save the selection.

Cant send fax

If you are unable to send the faxes, please try decreasing the modem speed and disabling the "Error Correction Mode." To decrease the modem speed, please follow the steps given below:

1. Press the "Fax" button.

2. Press the "Options" button 15 times till it reads "Advanced Fax" on the display.

3. Press the "Select" button.

4. Then press the "Options" button 10 times till it reads "Max Send Speed."

5. Now press the "Right Arrow" button and choose "9600 bps."

6. Press the "Select" button.

To disable "Error Correction," please follow the steps given below:

1. Please press the "Fax" button.

2. Press the "Options" button 15 times till it reads "Advanced Fax" on the display.

3. Press the "Select" button.

4. Then press the "Options" button 11 times till it reads "Error Correction."

5. Now press the "Right Arrow" button and choose "NO."

6. Press the "Select" button.

Internet connection

1. Power off the modem. 2.Restart your computer. Allow the system to stabilise and switch on the modem after about 10mins. Check for connection. If nothing happened after all this, then go to Device Manager and scroll down to Modem. Click the plus sign and lookup for that particular make. It may be disabled. If disabled, simply right click and select Enable and wait for about 5mins to login. Good luck

I have hp laserjet 3050 and i not able to receive fax

Following is the description for Error 232
A communication failure (comm error) has occurred between the two machines. OR The user at the remote machine may have pressed CANCEL. OR The power at the remote machine has been interrupted, or deliberately turned off, causing the fax session to be interrupted

  2. If the error persists, and error correction is in use for the fax session, disable ECM

  1. Press Menu/Enter.
  2. Press the < or > buttons to select Fax Setup, then press Menu/Enter.
  3. Press the < or > buttons to select All Faxes, then press Menu/Enter.
  4. Press the < or > buttons to select ECM, then press Menu/Enter.
  5. Press the < or > buttons to select OFF or ON, then press Menu/Enter to save the selection.
    NOTE: The default setting for ECM is ON.

Compaq A1000 problem

Go into the control panel go to system properties then device manager then disable the fax modem card in the list and if its an onboard device then disable it from the BIOS. you dont need a faxmodem card for your internet as its required for dialup connection.

How to disable the V.90 protocol

1. Open "My Computer".
2. Open "Dial-Up Networking".
3. Right Click on the icon used to connect with, then Left Click on "Properties".
4. At the bottom of the window, Click the button "Configure".
5. At the top of the next page, Click on the Tab called "Connection".
6. Near the bottom of the next page, Click on the "Advanced" button.
7. At the bottom of this page, Click in the "Extra Setting" box and type in the appropriate code.

Unable to fax out

usually confilcts arrise like this when 2 or more type connections are present on one comp especially if not integrated on same card together.

 

solution: disable nic reboot pc then send fax should go alright.

though if you have call waiting you should disable it before sending any fax.  try using WINFAX  proven technology.
