Why does it have a perpetual "wait warming up" on display?

I disconnect hdd, duplex and connectivity and message stay. I have been told that it may be due to lack of toner. What do you think?

My hp photoshop 3210 printer is showing error 0xc18a0206 message when I changed the cartridges.

Step 2: Reset the printer.
In some cases, removing the ink cartridges and resetting the printer can clear the error message.
  • Turn on the printer.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  • Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave your printer connected to the network.
  • Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
  • Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
  • Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
  • If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.
  • If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.
  • Try to print.

No turn on but a message on the display. The message is PLEASE WAIT

Hello,

This message is displayed when the device is checking for its hard drive and DVD drive to signal back that they are operational. You can consider this a bit like the BIOS of a computer as it is waiting for its devices to come back with a "READY" signal. If "PLEASE WAIT" is scrolling across your screen for a really long time it could mean that the two devices with moving parts (HDD / DVD) may be having an issue coming up. UNPLUG unit from wall. Wait for some time (5 min) and then plug it back in. If your device is still not working then you have either a bum HDD or a bum DVD. Considering which one is working all the time (HDD) you probably have a dead hard drive, but my own unit's DVD drive went nuts, so that is also a potential source of the problem.

Either way, your local computer repair store can have a look at this issue, considering what the unit is is basically a single purpose PC

I just bought an IBM Thinkpad r31 for my kids, that may have a connection problem, or it may be with the HDD or controller. It comes on intermittently, and when it boots, may only stay on for a few minutes...

It's the HDD, its spin-up time (the time it takes the motor on the platters to reach normal operating rpms)  is too great so the system can't decide if it's a hard or soft problem so it freezes.
Nothing more you can do, replace it.

I have Canon IR-C5185i. Just assembled out of the box. Powered on. Message displays with error E0000732-8888 and I am instructed to ''turn switch off and on''. What could be wrong?

When this machine was started after connecting the Color Image Reader-E1/F1, the screen for the shutdown sequence appeared (and E732-9999 was recorded as an error history in service mode). When the main power switch was turned OFF/ON by following the instruction on the screen, the error code "E732-8888" was displayed. When connecting the Color Image Reader-E1/F1, follow the field remedy below.
- E732-9999 is recorded when a printer model detects a scanner for the first time. (This is not an error code but an alert.)
- E732-8888 can be displayed when a different scanner is connected to this machine.
1. Connect the Color Image Reader to this machine. (Do not connect the DDI cable).
2. Turn ON the main power switch.
3. Change the setting values of the following service mode items.
- Service mode > COPIER > Option > BODY > W/SCNR: from '0' to '1'.
- Service mode > COPIER > Option > BODY > SCANTYPE: from '1' to '0'.
Reference: For the Color Image Reader-E1/F1, this mode has to be set to '0'. On the other hand, it has to be set to '1' for the Duplex Color Image Reader-G1.
- Color Image Reader-E1: Platen cover model
- Duplex Color Image Reader-F1: Two-sided reversal reading type ADF model (DADF-M1)
- Duplex Color Image Reader-G1: Two-sided simultaneous reading type ADF model (DADF-T1: only for the iRC5180)
4. Turn OFF the main power switch, and connect the DDI cable.
5. Turn the main power switch ON.
Note: How to turn OFF the main power switch.
When turning off the main power switch, be sure to follow the steps below to protect the HDD inside this machine.
1. Hold down the control panel switch for 3 sec or more.
2. Following the instruction displayed on the shutdown screen, operate the control panel. (The main power switch is turned OFF automatically.)
3. If there is a need to unplug the power cord (from the wall outlet), perform step1 and 2 above before unplugging it.

Monitor displays signal cable disconnected

Check your VGA connector (from monitor to PC), namely the pins in the connector. It's pretty easy to bend a pin, so that it doesn't make the connection. If you happen to do this to the connection present pins, then the monitor won't know that it is connected and will just display the message you are seeing.

"Warming up Please wait" error

Suspect the toner heating element (fuser) may be malfunctioning. Dell may be able to walk you through a "hard reset" that involves opening the front door, turning on an off the printer with certain buttons held down, etc.
