Nikon 4300 - Buttons Do Not Function

The camera turns on, but the clock calender reset button flashes, and I can navigate or use any of the buttons on the back. The wheel still functions on top, and can take pictures, but can also not zoom or anything else. Than the camera shuts off after about 30 seconds. Tried a different card, but same results - any ideas?

How do you use the self-timer on my the nikon coolpix?

On your menu navigation buttons, push the left arrow to get to the timer. Then push up or down to turn the timer on. Then push the middle button to exit. Now position the camera for the picture, and push the shutter button. You will have I think about 10 seconds to position the subject. It's a cool function, have fun with it!

Buttons do not function on my d80

Some of those buttins work in combination with the two dials (i.e., setting ISO and white balance, etc.). Hold a buttin down and user the knobs simoultaneously.

If this is not the issue, please describe specifically which buttons are not working.

Nikon coolpix 774 menu buttons don't work

Try resetting the camera back to the factory default setting.
Remove the battery, leave it for 1/2 + hour, insert the battery and configure date time etc.
If it doesn't work then you have faulty camera.
