Response to page turn command very, very slow, Also omits text at times.

You might want to try a reboot. This means when it's on, pressing and holding the power button for about ten seconds until it shuts off and shows a blank screen and about five seconds thereafter just to be sure. Do this when on the home screen. Then press the power button once and wait until the Kindle tree appears and a progress bar shows. It'll take a minute or so for the progress bar to go all the way across then it will boot up into the PIN or home screen depending. I would recommend using a PIN as if you ever lost it anybody can use your account to buy books.

Pressing the power button one short time only puts it to sleep so every so often, if it becomes balky, doing a reboot clears and speeds it back up.

HOW DO I UNDER FREZZER MY KINDLE

Hold the power switch for 20 seconds. Slide the power switch and hold it in place for 20 to 30 seconds before releasing it.
  • You need to physically hold the power switch in its off position for this long. Doing so tells your device to "reboot," in essence, instead of merely shutting down.
  • The reboot screen should appear as soon as you release the power switch.

Give the Kindle time to reboot. The Kindle will reboot within a minute or two. Be patient and give your device ample time to finish its reset.
  • There is some possibility that the Kindle will freeze as it reboots. This may be the case if your Kindle stays frozen on the reboot screen for more than ten minutes.
Charge the Kindle. If the device freezes during the reboot or does not respond to the reset at all, plug the charger in and allow your Kindle to charge for 30 minutes or more.
  • Make sure that your Kindle has enough time to complete a full charge.

Hold the power switch down again. After you finish charging the Kindle, slide the power switch and hold it down for another 20 seconds.
  • The reboot screen should appear again. Give the device a minute or two to reboot before checking it again. This should complete the reset.

My kindle froze in middle of book i held the on switch for 15 seconds and page went blank it is fully charged now will not turn on

On my own kindle holding the power switch for that long initiates a full reboot. The only two things I can suggest are to try plugging the device into a usb cable to your computer, try turning it on again and see if you can get a connection to the computer. If it connects to the computer, but nothing is on the screen, then it is likely a screen issue. If it doesn't connect to your computer, then it is something you would have to contact amazon about. If its a screen issue, hopefully its under warranty. If it is outside warranty, but you bought it on your credit card, then contact your credit card company, many of them automatically extend the warranty for any item you purchase on the card.

My kindle will not start up even though it has battery charge. Is there a soft reboot?

Yes:
  1. Get a watch with a hand for the seconds.
  2. Slide and hold the power switch for 7 seconds. After about 5 seconds the power light flashes three times. After 7 seconds, the screen will go blank and the device is switched off now. Release the switch.
  3. Slide and hold the power switch for 15 seconds (no more, no less). Do not hold the switch too long, the time window for the reset is not very big.
  4. After releasing the switch just wait. The Kindle will reboot after a few seconds.

Make sure that the kindle is fully charged. Plug your kindle into the wall charger, a yellow light will light up. When the yellow light turns green, your kindle is fully charged. Then try turning on your device. If the device still does not turn on, hold the power switch for 15 seconds, this will reboot the device.
