I have already changed the starter solenoid and the problem is still present. the only way to get the starter to stop is to disconnect the battery. maybe the starter is pulling too many amps and the solenoid spring doesnt have enough force to open the circuit?
The start stays engaged the entire time? I would guess it's a bad ignition switch -- it would be sending power to the starter (through the solenoid) regardless of if you switched it off.
Maybe it could be a bad starter, too. I'd start with the switch.
Hey chaddeesnhs did you ever figure out the problem? Was it a new ignition switch that you needed or was it the starter. I'm asking because I'm having that very same problem.

Thank you I have no clue why I didn't think of that. Just wondering would the stop switch not be wired in series with the start switch power?
