Without a remote control, you can't. To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability. Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the sites.

Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops. Visit some on-line sites too, which deals with electronic spare parts.

I just bought an antenna for my television, and i don't know how to set it to antenna. The tv is probably 5 years old or so.

If it is NOT high definition, you will need to buy a digital tuner for free over the air channels.

Need the codes for an rca coverter box for a symphonic tv

Here is the code for your symphonic tv that works for me. It is "0053."

Here are the steps:
1.

Press the "On" button on the symphonic TV to turn that set on.

2.

Hold down the TV button on the symphonic remote until all of the buttons on that remote flash.

3.

Type in 0053 code for the symphonic TV remote as you point the remote toward the TV.

4.

Press either the "Power" or "Pound" ("#") button on the symphonic remote to save the code

My tv won't play my DVD player. I don't have the original remote, but it is programed to a universal remote. Whenever I press the "TV/VCR" button all kinds of numbers pop up on the screen and the tv...

Your TV is responding as if the Game button was pressed on the original remote. The additional stuff on the screen is to let you set the best brightness and other settings for video gaming. These screens should disappear on their own in 10 seconds if no buttons are pressed on the remote. See the manual http://www.symphonic.us/support/manuals.aspx and fill in the model number. If the remote were still controlling the TV, the CH up and down buttons would let you choose the Picture settings to change and volume up and down buttons would change the setting.

The TV/VCR button on the universal remote may be swapping the remote to control the VCR only. (Thus losing the ability to control the TV.) (What does the manual say about the button for the universal remote?) You may want to consider a different universal remote - programmable or http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=ST419E&uuid=12844254442790 which has an exact substitute.

Check your cables for the sound issue (try new ones) and make sure that they are fully seated in the jacks.

I hope this helps.

No Picture or Sound

I dont think it's worth getting a repair man to come fix a Symphonic TV... honestly, they are problem prone... and It would cost much less to just buy a whole new one. I have a symphonic tv with no remote, and now, I cant switch into game mode! It's like they designed their tv's to be crappy!

My Tv just started doing the same problem

Sounds like the On/Off sitch is bad to me. Be Calm my friend these things happen in life. No point in becoming angry over it. The fact is it was probably the least expensive set on the shelf when you bought it. It came with a warrenty as do the other brands And, this sort of problem can happen to ANY brand of television. That's why you get a warrenty. Also, you could have bought an extended warrenty which would have cost you more than the repair job you need for your tv. Call 18002427158 press 1 be preparred to hold about 4 or 5 minutes and ask them for a service tech in your area. I would think that this should be repairable for about $35-$55 OR look in your yellow pages and take it to any TV reapair shop in your neighborhood. Don't worry, BE HAPPY!!!! Don't forget now, very soon, if you don't have cable or satelite you will need a new tv anyway. The nation is going Digital! WOO HOOO!!!! Have a great day! Symphonic tv's are ok. I have had a 27" here for 13 years now still plays great! Although, my 6 year old Symphonic just pooped the bed. But, that's ok cause I can fix it!

No Sound

First of all try getting a Symphonic remote - http://www.miracleremote.com/ not that expensive. Then you can access all areas of the TV, including all sub menus and see how the audio is set-up.. Could be you have it in SAP mode, (Second Audio Programming), in which case you will hear nothing...

No audio

9 times out of 10 a TV like that which has no audio is fine and the audio settings are not right or it is a cable box / satellite receiver problem. If you are using cable then connect the cable directly to the TV, tune in an active channel and set the volume about half way. If you do not hear any sound then, using the remote, go into the menu, scroll to the audio page and make sure the speakers are not set to OFF and also make sure the audio is not set to SAP. If you have checked all that and everything is set correctly and you still have no audio, then your audio output IC is probably bad or cracked and should be resoldered or replaced by a qualified tech.
