We have a Merlin 230T garage door opener which randomly, sometimes opens on its own.

We have a Merlin 230T. Sometimes, when it is closed, sometimes when we have left home for a time, without us touching the remote, the door goes up by itself. A few times we have come home, and one morning when we got up (obviously slept through it) we found the door open. Quite randomly at different times. We had waited after it has gone down to ensure it wasn't going back up due to obstructions etc. Any suggestions please.

SOURCE: Garage Door doesn't close

I had the same problem and fixed it by greasing the chain and roller chamber and spraying silicone on the springs. Works beatifully now AND my wife is happy.

SOURCE: Garage door shakes as if off balance when closing

  • The garage door may be out of balance or a spring may be broken. Close the door and use the emergency release handle to disconnect the trolley. Open and close the door manually. A properly balanced door should stay at any point of travel while being supported entirely by it's spring(s). If it does not, disconnect the garage door opener and call a garage door professional. Do not increase force to operate the garage door opener.

SOURCE: programing garage door opener remote

ok crystal, calm down this is an easy one! first locate the smart button on your openers , next you will press and hold down the smart button until you see an indicator light above it shut off, while your holding that button the light will be solid ,Now your ready to program your remotes ,first programm one side by taking each of your four remotes and pressing the smart button on machine then pressing the button on the remote you want to program,by doing that you will notice the lightbulbs on your machine shut off and go back on , This is an indicator that your machine has accepted the code , now do it with the other three remotes , after you,ve programmed all four ,go over to the other machine and repeat the process but this time you have to choose another button on your remotes since you,ve programmed all four remotes to the same button on each remote ,just choose the bottom button on your remotes this time to keep them seperated , hope this helps you and it is as easy as 1-2-3 your owners manual will describe exactly the same ,i know because i,ve installed over 27,000 machines working as an installer for sears, please leave a nice feedback rating if i was able to help you, good luck,Sincerely Glenn Mayer

SOURCE: Access Master Garage Door Opener opens by itself

The most common cause of this is a bad wall control or the wiring going to it. The wall control goes bad from use and the wiring sometimes has intermittent short caused by the staples the installer used.

Press and release the green operate button to move the

I have a Merlin 230T garage door opener and it has started to run in the opposite direction. ie; it is closed now and when I use the remote control it tries to close more

Pull the emergency release handle. Use remote to open door then close it again with the remote. Now re engage the emergency release. That should put the chain in the right position for proper operation.

Merlin 230t Door completes closing and goes straight back up again without using the remote...all adjustments have been made by a licenced door mechanic and yet it still refuses to stay down

Check for black marks on the wall or something it may be hitting . (if so the track is to tight to the wall)..... also Release the door from the opener and check it manually make sure its smooth and balanced correctly two panels up two panels down

Merlin 230t

If the chain is loose I would definitely tighten it up to remove the sloppiness of the drive. That will in turn help you to accurately find the sweet spot that is currently eluding you. And you have to work fast because you do not want to overheat the motor.

The garage door will open and then close then open and then the light starts to flash it's a Merlin 230t

This just happened to me. The issue was that the chain that the motor moves back and forth to open/close the door needed to be tightened as the tension had become slack, so the door was hitting the ground hard when it closed and the system automatically raised the door. I closed the door by adjusting the downward travel and then tightened the chain tension by twisting the bit at the of the chain (you'll see it and can use your fingers to do this), once done, then it was a matter of adjusting the upward and downward travel knobs and testing the door to make sure the door was back to normal.

I have a Merlin 230T garage door opener which abruptly stopped working altogether. Could it be the fuse?--or any other suggestions.

There is a fuse in a Model M-230T and I have seen a service man change it.Now that the fuse has blown again, I want to change it myself BUT can't now find it!

Can anyone please offer a guide to changing the fuse?
