SOURCE: picture disappearance & tv turns off
It sure sounds like you have a classic case of bad solder joints. Resolder all the connections on all boards.

What cable is being used? Often times there is a few things that could effect the picture and causing flicker. If you are using an HDMI cable, or the hdmi plug on the box or tv, you could have that problem. Because the picture is digital, you don't get the snow and lines we were used to. Because the cables are so stuff, often over time they can stress and pull on the plug and cable. Try a new cable, if that does not work, try another hdmi input on the tv. If that fails then try a new cable, like a component cable or RCA. If none of these work and you still have this issue with the box then most likely it is the tv or the box. Swap out a new source, and start this process all over again. If you get the same result then it is the tv. If it works with the same cables, then it is your box. Att will send you a new box if that is the case. If it is the tv, call Vizio. Warranty or not call them. If you are sure you are out of warranty, play dumb, be vague but nice. Often you can get someone out there still at no cost.
