I am pretty sure it is supposed to flash if all is well in a regular pattern every few seconds. if there is a problem then it will flash in some code, like 2 flashes, pause, three flashes, etc

The gurgling sound sounds like you have gotten air into the system. Try purging the air out at the bleeder valves. Also check and make sure that your water inlet is working.

Installed upgrade to water heater and piolet light lit fine. for a minute the flame turned yellow as condensation driped but when it stopped flame went back to blue.

New gas water heaters drip condensation the first time they are lit.
The dripping stops.
You should be fine.

The red light on the water heater keeps flashing

Attached to the water heater is a troubleshooting chart for your sequence light. 1 flash means..., 2 flashes means...., and so forth. Find the chart, count the flashes and see what it means and we'll go from there. Douglas

Natural gas hot water heater not stying lit

Probably a bad solenoid in the gas valve. Higher voltage of a new thermocouple keeps it open longer but it still fails over a period of time. Look into a new gas valve for the water heater.
