Yes a humming noise on that model is usually related to the color wheel It will get progressively louder
SOURCE: my tv is a samsung dlp. i have determined that
most of the time you just need to replace the color wheel; the jumper they are talking about is on the DMD board which is a metal box attached to the light engine---if the jumper needs to be removed you will have a working set but the color will look odd--usually missing blue or red---it is a small two wire plug with a jumper and can be removed with a hemostat or needle nose pliers.
If you buy the color wheel I have specific instructions that you will not find on line to avoid problems when you replace it--lots of people think they can do it until they try and fail.

Hi,it's possible they gave you a different color wheel,there's a silver version and a gold version they spin at different speed,so mostlikely they gace you the wrong version check what this website says about the 2 versions : http://www.discount-merchant.com/product-p/samsung_bp96-00674a_colorwheel.htm God bless you ask for a refund.
