Go from the main out on the front panel to the left bbe input then from the left bbe output to the power amp 1 input. Then do the same from the monitor out to the right side and back to power amp 2. BBE units can enhance your sound, but too much will tend to sound brittle.
On the front panel you want to take a 1/4" cable and plug it into the "main" (output), and then connect it to the input of your fx unit (left is usually mono, if not it will be marked). Then take the output (corresponding to the input) of the fx unit and put it in the power amp in. The 8600D is NOT a stereo unit (this is why there is only one main output).
This is a high output piezo pickup but won't give line level signals expected by some inputs so I would guess you may be going into a line input. If so try a mic input (XLR) instead and see if that works.
When you unload one amplifier you stand the chance of killing the amp's output transistor. If you must use only one speaker, you have to bridge the amps.
The owners manual shows a AC fuse for the 8300 as 8amp / 250 volts but doesn't show an external fuse holder for the 8600d. It's unlikely that the 8300 would use a 8amp and your 8600 a 1.6 amp. Double check your original fuse values.
Yes you can - but do not use the loudspeaker outlets on the rear panel. There are a variety of outputs on the front panel (bottom right as you look at it). You can use the main output, or monitor send - (for monitor you may need to use the relevant 'send' switches on each channel to send signal to these outputs. You should also turn the power amp switch to main only (not main + monitor) so that the internal power amplifier is not connected to the monitor socket You could also use the record out RCA (phono) sockets on the Peavey to connect to the CD / tape input on the main mixer. Generally speaking you should only send low frequencies to subs. The highs, while lower in power than the lows, will over time harm the voice coils. The ideal way to do this is to use an external crossover netween the main output and the amp input with the higher range going to a general set of speakers. Send the lows through the second channel of the amp and then to the subs.
In short, while not recommended, yes you can hook them up in parallel.
