I was given this phone. Can't get voicemail because I don't know password, how do I find it

Are you referring to the voice mail on your cell? What company do you have service with? If using cell, you may be able to try dialing 611 and then press the send or call button. then select the option for reset password. (When you received the phone, were you able to put it in your name with your account info? If so, you may be able to provide answers to the security questions with your account to reset your password.) Let me know if this helps.

The D1660 isn't an answering machine or a voicemail system. Please refer to the instructions for whatever answering machine/voicemail system you have on your phone line.

Your voicemail password is a 4 digit number that you enter when you want to listen to your voicemail messages from any other phone other than your mobile phone - this is called remote access. This voicemail password gives you the protection to know that only you can listen to your voicemails.
It is vital that your password is set to a random 4 digit password. To change your password, all you need to do is:

1. Dial 173 from your mobile
2. You will then be asked to pick a 4 digit number, and then press the # button
3. If you are happy press press 2

Your password is all set up and you will be prompted to enter it whenever you want to listen to your voicemails through remote access.You will only need to use this password when accessing your voicemails from another phone. You will not need to use this password when accessing your voicemail from your own mobile phone - you simply dial 171 as normal
You can reset your voicemail pass code by dialing 611 or 1 800 331 0500
From the main menu, press3 (To get help with voicemail)
Press 2 to reset your voicemail pass word
Enter Billing Zip code
Customer will receive a text message to their wireless phone with their new voicemail password.
OR
You can log into your "My Account" from the www.cingular.com
From the My Phone page, click Reset Voice Mail Password.
Choose a wireless number from the dropdown menu and select Submit.
A text message is sent to the wireless phone with the new password.

Where did your assistant check the voicemail? In a TVA system, each extension VM password can be reset from mailbox 999. If you don't have that password, you would have to call your dealer/installer or check their notes. If you're trying to get to the General Delivery Mailbox, it's done from the Message Manager's mailbox (998). Again, it needs notes, but I think you can reset that password from MB 999.

This happened to me once as well, when I first purchased my phone they forget to give me my temporary password. I was able to call my carrier and they simply told me my password. I would recommend that you do the same thing. Call your cellular provider and let them know your situation. You will need to have adequate information in order to prove that you are the new owner. When you purchased the phone why did you not change numbers and such. That would have made you the registered owner, giving you easy access to things like your voicemail password. Call the support number for your phone provider and tell them you need to reset your password.

The only way to reset the password if you don't know or remember the original is to call the provider. If you don't know the customer service number, you can always dial 611 from the mobile phone itself.
