Model LC-C4677UN. Why does it keep turning off?

The TV will play perfect(ly) for about 20 minutes then turn itself off, in about 3 minutes comes back on for 2 minutes and cuts off again. This is a repeated process and each time the on time gets shorter and the off time gets longer. Do I need a new power supply and if so how can I tell which board is the power supply board?

** If you don't know what your doing back there, probably best not to go poking around. Power supply capacitors can bite hard and unmercifully, even when they've been unplugged for days. If you know how to safely discharge them, then do this before you touch anything. Until this is done, Keep one hand behind your back at all times, and this is no joke. To locate the power supply, follow the connections from the AC cord that go into the TV. The board that these wires are connected to is the power supply. Plenty of videos online about how to locate bad capacitors. Which is a very common problem in some tv's.

Sharp Aquos LC-32D41U pictures problem

I have had exactly the same problem. Sounds daft but by not using the remote, and only using the power on/off switch on the TV itself, it is working perfectly...no idea why
Use the remore for changing programmes etc but not for on/off
Try it anyway because I know how annoying this is

TV turns on at odd hours by itself

Hi, I had the "Ghost In The Machine". I tried out what I descibed in my original posting.
#1. I unplugged The Set.
#2. I pushed in and held in the power button in for about 5 minutes before bedtime. ( The PC trick I learned) I gave it 5 minutes because a tv set has much more power inside it.
#3. I again pushed in and held the power button in again for 3 minutes the next morning.
#4. I plugged the tv in again. The red standby light was lit. The set did not immeadiatly come on when I tried to power it up.
#5. 5 Minutes later I returned and hit the power button on the remote and it came on like nothing ever was wrong.
#6. It has been fine now for 3 days!!! Powers up when commanded and shuts down like normal. It has yet to come back on or act up as it was doing.
I will keep a watch on it and if it starts up acting again I will repost. I hope this information will be of use to anyone who experienced the same problem. It didn't cost a dime, just some patience. Thanks for a forum that people can exchange information and save trouble and money unless all options are exhausted. Bill
