My infinity PS-8 sub woofer comes on the sound is good then it fades out i turn it off for a minet then turn it back on and there is sound again then with in seconds the sound is gone again wrong?
By module I was referring to the amplifier that powers your subwoofer. Based on your issue I think you may have a bad capacitor. Look for swollen cap(s),cap leaks, and replace what you find. You may have to individually check all with tester if you see nothing amiss. PIA.By module I was referring to the amplifier that powers your subwoofer. A woofer consist of 4 parts, the diaphragm, the gasket ,the coil and the magnet. So when u touch the diaphragm it goes back on after no sound?....assuming this is what happens, there are 2 wires running from the coil to the diaphragm it could either be broken or worst case the coil itself has a broken or burnt coil wire. Recoil the coil if that is the case, idk from where u are but in RSA we get recoiled replacement kits for these situations
When sub-woofers are overdriven (played too loud) they create a lot of heat. You can try using an external fan or improve the ventilation around the speakers. Most good speakers have thermal cut offs that prevent permanent damage.
i have a similar problem: my problem is that my sub doesn't power on when i put sound on my amplifier, then i have to power on manually the sub, but how it doesn't detects sound, it comes power off after 15 min.
Make sure the ohm's are the same on all your speakers and amp.
You amp watt should be equal or higher then your speakers total amps.
You base box should be completely air tight, and have about 1/2 of the box stuffed with cotton.
Make sure you use a good thick speaker cables to connect from the amp to the speakers.
and finally, make sure your trunk seals tight and wont rattle... cause nothing sounds worse then someone pulling next to you and all you hear is a buzzing sound from the trunk rattling... Also... sell the infinity's and get something like memphis, or panasonics. :P
Open it up and see what is in there! You might find a fuse blown. It might have just blown, without a fault, if you are lucky. If not check out the part numbers on the amp board. All semiconductors numbers, then put the numbers into google. You will soon find out if they are obtainable!
