GAS LEAKING FROM CARBURETOR AREA.

Before you do that check the breather hole in the gas tank cap - that's the most common problem. Leaking is probably a faulty pipe, especially if you've disconnected them. Don't rely on push fit only - use hose clips.

Exsessive vibration is normally attributable to the mower deck. If the vibration is occurring while the blades are engaged and cutting this would indicate a need for further investigation. Check the blades for damage or uneven ware. If the blades are new or appear in good shape check the mandrals and shafts to ensure they are not Brocken or bent. You can get mandrel assembly's for around $60.00 online and replace all you need in one go.

Bad battery, or solinoid.

Oil will be drawn into the engine under heavy acceleration, irrespective of load. Check this before you worry! You might also check for any external leaks of oil or hydraulic fluids around the exhaust area which could cause white smoke at odd intervals.

I had this same issue. New belts and correct routing did not solve the problem. The issue with my mower was the tabs that come off the frame that you bolt the transaxle (the drive for the rear wheels and axle) had almost completely torn/cracked away. This allowed the transaxle to tilt forward under a load and slip the belt off the rear drive pulley. You see no mention of this at the dealer or company sights. The tabs are so thin this is going to happen, in my opinion, in time. I reinforced this area with 1/4 inch angle iron and have had no further belt issue.

After reading your question it sounded like the smoke was due to fuel leaking on the muffler and or excess fuel entering the combustion chamber. I would due the following diagnostic. In a quite area turn on the ignition switch. You should hear the metallic click of the fuel cutoff solinoid on the carburetor.

THER IS A FUEL SHUT OFF ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CARBURETOR. IT NEEDS 12 VOLTS TO IT WHEN RUNNING, IT MAY BE BAD, OR THE COIL, CHECK FOR SPARK WHEN THE MOTOR GETS HOT AND QUITE. HAVE A SPARE SPARK PLUG HANDY! FOR THE TEST. . BEST GAS TO RUN IN SMALL EQUIPMENT IS MARINE GAS, IT HAS NO ALCOHOL .. I HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE ..DO TO FUEL. maybe bad fuel, fuel line leaking, flooding of the carburetor, since it did start and ran rough I am assuming that the gas was left set and more then likely this gummed up the carburetor, you will have to clean/rebuild it. If you have a can of carburetor clean you may be able to spray that into there and clean it up, I would not choke it to start it as it sounds like it got/is flooded/ing. Good Luck Tim
