I can start my Stihl HS 82 Road hedge trimmers but the blades will not move. Is there a lock on it or what's wrong

You shouldn't have to set a gap.. the gap between the blades is 'pre-determined' by a spacer between the blades that each 'blade bolt' passes through. You should be able to tighten up the blade bolts and the blades should still move. If they dont, then the spacers are worn and need to be replaced.

Check fuel lines, filter and carb... Sounds like a poor fueling issue. clean and replace carb diaphrams. Check gaskets between cylinder and carb.

I have The same problem,after opening the gearbox cover found that one of the connecting rods bearing cage broken and needle bearings everywhere and both thrust plates damage . In order to get it fix will be as well buy a new trimmer.

Sounds like a fueling problem, Could either be over fueling or under fueling. Is fuel making it into the cylinder.? Is the plug excessively wet.?

I solved the problem by calling a small engine repair shop and asked them to fax me a photo copy. You all were of no help and appear more to want money via bait and swithch. THUMBS DOWN to you!
