I guess the main plug fuse does not blow for the same reason it does not blow and you can wreck a PC, although not certain why that is. I have a feeling from past work on a Panasonic that there is an internal fuse as well. This may have blown with the power surge.
Good evening to you. I hope the same thing is not happening to you that happened to me. What happened was that I had the buttons had stopped working because of my impatience for the micro to work. I thought I would give the micro a rest, disconnected the power and let the micro rest over night. Connected it then to the power and started it like i started it the way I did the first time. I think it is worth the effort. Kolbru
Demonstration Mode
This is to enable you to experiment setting various
programs. (The letter D will always appear in the display
window. This is to confirm that there is no microwave
power produced and it is safe to use the oven without
any food). To set Demonstration Mode: press micro
power once, then press Stop/Cancel 4 times. To cancel
Demonstration Mode press Micro power once, then
press Stop/Cancel 4 times.
Replace the magnetron, safety fuse and diode as a set and check the door interlock switches. That should get it working for another year or so. Don't forget microwave mains fuses are special sand filled and semisurge type.
There is a fuse inside the cover of the microwave. You will need to remove the outer shell and follow the power cord you will see an inline fuse. This fuse can be purchased at any appliance parts house.
Ck and make sure the circuit breaker on the power panel on the house hasn't tripped.. If your microwave is within 6' of the kitchen sink, ck for a tripped GFCI controlling the power the microwave is plugged into. Good Luck, Ned
Is this the unit with the door that swings down like a conventional oven?? I think it is. This sounds like a door switch but could be a magnetron or cook relay on the control PCB.
What you are saying the microwave stop work like heating, but but the clock counts down.If it is stop heating then there is a rest on or near the magtrogron.Once it cools down it start back heating.Open and close the door will reset power to the magtrogen{sorry about the spelling].Look for loose connector,or replace the click zon it should have a small red buttom on it.
Sounds just like a bad door switch or door switch mount. Probably the upper one.
