My same oven makes a ticking sound when you tell it to start pre-heating the oven. The oven continues to make this ticking sound until you stop the oven and it completely cools down. This ticking sounds to be coming from the oven control panel. I have no solution, but I'm glad I wasn't the only one who had a problem with this ticking sound!

The timer that I own is not installed in an oven. It is a timer that you can use anywhere. Why does it first start ticking when I set it, but then stops ticking?

Timers for oven are very special as they are switching a heavy amperage load.

Yours just needs replacing if the clock stops turning the dial. The last about 3 years of constant daily use.

'make and model' helps in questions like this and should be the first 3 words in every question as part of 'make model (what it is)'.

Hiya! I have a Simpson Neptune oven and I can’t turn the loud, gritty-sounding ticking timer off! HELP! It’s driving me crackers! Thank you!! ??????

Hi, I know its been over a year but if we had the same problem, it was solved by twisting the timer knob located on the bottom left hand corner. This changes the symbols in the red patch. For me, the red patch showed the number 0 and once that was changed to a hand symbol or no bell symbol, the noise stopped

My delonghi oven is making a ticking noise and with all the switches turned off it's is still heating and rather hot. Won't turn off and cool down

Sounds like an improperly grounded element in the circuit... If an element or wire makes contact with the metal frame and welds itself in place, the electrical current can BYPASS the control and heat uncontrolled- throw the circuit breaker to interrupt the power.
A thorough inspection must be made of the elements and wiring.

I can't make it stop , Its supposed to be off , minute minder is off as well as the auto control center . I just can't make the start time to go off , I hear noises ,like ticking noise.

if all elements are not warm then there is no quantity of power being used
have an electrician check out the stove as it may be a faulty minute clock
check around the room for a clock that is keeping the time as that is a ticking noise even though it is battery operated.

My wall oven is making a constant unusual noise

Without a model number its hard to be exact. If your oven is older it will have a clock timer motor that turns the dials or flips the clock display cards. This timer has gears and bushings that will be annoying as they wear and start a vibrating hum or clicking-usually not worth tinkering with..it can be taken out and checked or replaced. Electronic timers of course don't have any moving parts to the timer, but have relays in the circuit to turn the oven on and off. They do not 'whir'. This is the likely issue.

Timer very soft cannot hear it

Ive heard of this before. Many oven Manufacturers use clockwork timers which give 1 faint "ting" noise when finished. Others use electronic ones, which are not much better. If you are not standing next to the oven, you cant hear it. I usually recommend a separate timer , like a water timer or egg timer type thing which you can set (and Hear) and leave it near where you are working so you can go and turn the oven off. These can normally be purchased at Smiths, Tandys etc maybe Big W or K Mart

Why does my Jenn Air convection oven make such a LOUD clattery/ticking noise whenever I use it? I think it must be the fan...can you help?

If you can get at the fan blades without taking anything apart, try to turn the fan blade by using a small screwdriver or even a small wooden skewer. Listen to see if the blades are making contact with either fan cover or the back of the oven or the edges of the convection opening.

Once you determine which blade(s) are making contact, use a sharpie marker to mark those blades you need to correct. That way if the blades are hitting the fan cover, you'll know which ones need to be bent back into shape once the cover is removed.

With the oven turned off, you should be able to remove the circulating fan cover and correctly bend the fan blades back into shape and stop the noise.

Hope you found this very helpful and best regards!

It looks like an S551X-5, I think the timer is a safety mechanism, maybe just set it to full when in use and turn it off when you finish.
