WSD chip socket won,t respond when chip is inserted
First - try different SD cards to be sure it is not the card at fault. I assume it is showing up in Windows Explorer - it should be shown as a Removable Drive with a drive letter - on mine it is G: - Note that autoplay might be turned off, so any inserted card may not pop-up automatically. Assuming the card is fine and it fails to show up in Windows Explorer, or if the drive itself is not in Windows Explorer, look in the device manager to be sure the SD reader device is being recognized by windows and if it is enabled - if it says disabled on not working properly, try to reinstall the driver. In my device manager, it shows up under Disk drives as a multi-card USB device and under Portable devices, it shows up as G:/. Alternatively, go to the HP site and see if there is an updated driver - if so, download and install that, reboot and test it again. IF these all fail, it could be a hardware problem.

Try installing the SD program.
You can download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Power down your Toshiba Satellite.
Unplug it from the wall.
Turn the machine over and remove the battery.
Locate the RAM compartment cover, which is usually located somewhere in the middle of the underside, and is about 4-by-4 inches.
Unscrew the RAM cover screw with a Phillips screwdriver and set aside.
Ground yourself by touching a metal object.
This will release any static electricity built up in your body, which can harm computer chips and components.
You can also use an anti-static wristband while you are working.
Remove RAM modules if needed.
This is most likely if you are upgrading the present RAM capacity with a larger RAM chip.
Press your fingers on the clips on either side of the chip to pop it out of the socket.
Pull the chip out of the RAM compartment, holding it by the sides of the circuit board rather than on the chip.
Insert the new RAM module into the socket. Align the RAM module so that the notch lines up with the tab on the side of the socket.
Gently lower the module into the socket. Press into place with your fingers.
Replace the RAM compartment cover. Insert the screw and tighten.
Replace the battery and secure with the lock.
Plug the Toshiba Satellite laptop back in and power up the system.
The upgraded RAM should be automatically recognized.
hope this helps
