You have to check the sound setting of your tv. In most of the lcd tv there are two option that you can select. Internal speaker of the tv and external speakers while using sound bars or other amplification devices. Fist of all Check that setting. I think your set up is correct. The only other thing you may have to do is to set the sound on your TV to 'External Speaker' (or something similar) from your TV's remote accessing the menu.
You would have to install a speaker selection switch. You cannot directly hook up 2 amplifiers to one set of speakers without destroying one or both amplifiers. Unfortunately, one set of amplifiers is inside your sound bar. An external switch would have to be installed on your sound bar as well as speaker terminals that would connect to your Fisher.

If the sound bar has the red and white cable then yes you can use those. Make sure in your settings for the TV you have it set for an external audio source. Since you don't want to use the built in speakers. Probably best to get a tuner if using multiple speakers and a sub.
Check to make sure the wiring between the sound bar and your audio source is hooked up correctly. Check the source to see if it has it's own volume control. Many TVs require external speakers to be enabled in the "audio" section of your TV's "Settings" menu.
