The printhead(s) are most likely dirty and need cleaning. Try using the cleaning program found in the printer maintenance. Also there are several cleaner kits for cleaning heads available on the internet; just do an internet search for your printer model to find a cleaning kit.

My pictures are getting yellow streaks as they print out

If you are getting "yellow streaks", run the Kodak "print-head-cleaning" software, to see if that helps.

Be sure to compare the cost of "repairing" the printer to that of buying a new printer (that would use the same ink-cartridges).

When I had the same problem, I found out, that Epson did not like Generic Ink. As soon as I replaced it with Genuine Epson Ink, it was fine.

Make sure you do Maintenance, Nozzle Check and Head Cleaning. You might be clogged?

Hi there,

If you have to clean the print heads each time, this will only consume even more ink. There may be a problem with the printhead having clogged up with ink overtime. I would get it serviced, or if the quote is too high, you might just be better of getting a new printer unfortunately.

When I print photos, they have uniform vertical streaks.

Issue: Banded or streaked prints
Solution: Change the Print Quality Settings (Windows)

Change the Print Quality Settings (Windows) The Quality setting controls how finely ink droplets are placed on the printed page. Depending on the type of paper being used a higher Print Quality setting does not always insure a better print. Print speed will decrease as the Print Quality setting is increased. Follow the instructions below to change the print quality settings in the Canon printer driver for the Windows operating system through a printing application.
  1. Click 'Properties' in the Print dialog box.

Note: Depending on the Application software, 'Properties' may be displayed as 'Preferences'.

  2. Set the desired print quality in the 'Print Quality' section.

  3. Select 'High', 'Standard', or 'Draft / Fast'.
To set more detailed print quality settings, follow this procedure:
  1. Select 'Custom' and click 'Set'.

  2. In the Set Print Quality dialog drag the slide bar from 'Fast' to 'Fine' to select the print quality.

Note: There are five options in 'Quality'. However, selectable options are limited depending on the media type.

  3. Select 'Auto', 'Dither', or 'Diffusion' from the 'Halftoning' section.

New cartridges often need a few prints before acting good. Try to clean the heads of the printer also. If the problem consists maybe you need new cartridges.

Problem printing photos

When printing a photo make sure that your quality is set on best and not normal.

Also check the ink level on your colour and black cartridges and make sure it is sufficient.

Last but not least if you are using remanufactured or refilled cartridges this is a common problem. The cartridges are not made for the printer or they have been refilled and they now have blocked printheads and the ink is doing interesting things. If you buy a real hp cartridge and it should clear the issue up.

Printer color problem

The ink cartridge cleaning process can be performed even with the alignment message showing in the display. Follow the steps below to perform an ink cartridge cleaning process from the front panel:
  1. On the front panel, press Menu or Setup (depending on the model).
  2. Press the Right Arrow (>) until Maintenance or Tools appears, and then press the Enter or OK .
  3. Clean ink Cartridges should appear in the display. Press Enter or OK to begin the cartridge cleaning process. A page will be printed during the cleaning process with all of the colors on it. If any of the colors or the black are missing, faded, or streaked on the alignment page, there is a ink cartridge problem.
