Updating the Channel List Automatically You can update the channel list when the broadcaster adds new Services or if you move the TV to a new location.

1. Press the MENU button to display the menu. Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select "Digital Menu", then press the ENTER button.

2. Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select "Channel", then press the ENTER button.

3. Press the ENTER button again, to select "Country".

4. Select the appropriate country by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button. Press the ENTER button to confirm your choice. Even though you have changed the country setting in this menu, the country setting for Analogue TV is not changed. (Refer to page 11 of the user guide)

5. Press the ▲ or ▼ button again, to select "Auto Store". Press the ENTER button. When it has finished, the number of scanned services will be displayed. The existing favourite channel list will not be deleted when the channel list is updated. To stop the scan before it has finished, press the ENTER button with "STOP" selected.

6. Press the EXIT button to exit. If the signal status is poor, the "No Service found! Check the aerial connection" message is displayed. Check the aerial connection and the try the procedure again

Sounds like you haven't retuned the set correctly. Use the factory settings/ default setting if poss. Look out for too much signal if you are on a booster.

SOURCE: No BBC channels available after retuning Sony Trinitron TV

When TV channels are moved from one frequency to another frequency that was previously used by a different channel (sorry, but there's no simple way of saying that !) as has happened recently in th UK, some digital TVs and digiboxes struggle to sort the channel list out properly and channels can go missing as you describe.

If your equipment has the option to delete all currently stored channels (normally in the tuning menu options) then do so and then do a full re-tune.
Sometimes, this solves the problem as the equipment is no longer aware of any previous use of a frequency and just loads every channel it finds.

If this doesnt work, or your equipment doesnt have the option, then there is normally the option soemwhere in the menus to retore the item to "factory defaults/configuration". This will clear all previously stored channels and after a full re-tune your missing chanels should be there. However, any other configuration changes you previously made, e.g picture size, output type (RGB/NSCT/etc), etc will be lost and you'll need to set these again.

NB. some regions of the country have lost some channels temporarily now until after the switch over programme completes at the end of 2012. If you visit the Freeview website, this will tell you if your area is affected.

SOURCE: SAMASUNG 32 INCH TV FROZEN ON DTV CHANNEL 1

These are the steps to reset the DTV features and unfreeze your TV:

  1. Ensure the tv is in analogue mode, not dtv and turn it off.
  2. With the remote: press info, then menu, then mute, then power. These buttons need to be pressed sequentially, not all at the same time, and in quick succession. A menu will appear on the tv.
  3. Navigate to the reset option and press the left arrow key on the remote (or press the enter/ok button). The tv will reset itself and turn off.
  4. Turn the tv back on & it'll re tune all its channels. DTV should be working again.
I hope that helps.

I have a Luxor 40-914 TV. When I turn it off all the channels disappear when I turn it back on, apart from 901, whatever that is, and I need to retune. What's the answer please.

Mains system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; having 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go.

I cannot add channels to my luxor 40 inch tv

Do a reset to this set, and check. To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.
If reset too do not help you, the main system control memory IC to your set is faulty, and should be replaced.
Contact any service technician.

I have a Luxor 19" TV from ASDA Mod: Lux-19-914-cob.

There are two possibilities:

1. channel memory is retained by an internal battery, which has died and needs to be replaced;

2. channel memory is retained in a memory chip, which for some reason is not functioning properly or has failed.

Either way you're going to need to fix something inside the set. TVs are so inexpensive today, you're better off buying a new one.
