How do you put the filter back in the kettle? model 40870

Hold the filter like a "V" and place the little nub on the bottom of the "V" inside the spout (arrow on the filter pointing towards the spout). Then wedge the top of the filter under the lip of the pot.

When lever on tub spout is pulled up for shower use some hot water still comes out of the tub spout...reducing water pressure and temperature of water coming out of the shower head... Tub spout does NOT...

2 things can be happing here depending on the age of the tub spout. If the spout is more than 5 years old, you may need to replace it. if not that old then you may have a screen filter blockage in the shower head itself. remove the shower head from the shower neck and see if there is anything in the filter. while you have the head removed, try the tub spout again and see if problem continues. this should guide you in the next step to either replace the tub spout or just clean the shower head screen filter. Hope this helps.

I have replaced the guts to my delta shower two years ago. It now is holding a lot of water in the spout before it hits the shower head. Is there a problem with the shower head or do the insides need to be...

Lets start by removing the shower head from the chrome pipe on the wall and check the screen filter to make sure you are getting full flow. if this dose not cure problem then lets look at the diverter valve.is it a push button on the wall plate or a pull down spout diverter? if it's the push button it may have a bad paddle and needs to be replaced. If it's on the spout i am leaning towards the shower head. hope this helps. Let me know if you need more information.

Tub spout is calcified onto pipe and will not twist. i don't want to ruin pipes , how do i get it off?

First make sure you have a thread type spout. Look on the underside of spout for a set screw. If one is not found then you have a threaded spout. If you have set screws then it is a friction spout loosen set screw and twist/pull spout. A couple things you can try to loosen the calcium build up. Use a calcium buildup cleaner (may or may not be able to reach area) you can also try rapping on spout with rubber mallet calcium is hard and this might break it up (cause fractures in the calcium) then take a no mark wrench (simuliar to what you take oil filters off with) and turn spout counter clockwise. It may be hard but it should come off. If the spout pipe is galvanized it may come off inside the wall before it comes off of the spout. No worries just keep turning until off. Once off you can work on the spout end then reinstall. Make sure when you reinstall you place teflon on the thread ends. Hope this helps, thanks for using FIXYA. Good luck and have a great day. Jeff

The water from the dispenser tastes like plastic. Could it be the filter and where is it located?

If there is an inline filter, replace it. They have carbon in them, which loses its effectiveness in a relatively short time. Most people go way too long without replacing the filter. Ideally you should replace it at least once every 6 months.

Whether there is a filter or not, dump the ice, and let the water on the door run for 30 minutes. You could put a little piece of flexible tubing on the spout and put a bucket on the floor. You can buy the tubing at about any hardware or building supply. Usually, a 3/8 od, 1/4 id clear tubing will fit on the spout. But sometimes you would need a 1/2 od x 3/8 id. It is real cheap. Otherwise you can stand there with a cup for half an hour.

Water dispenser not working replaced filter ice maker works fine

Try using a hair dryer around the spout it may be frozen. I did that for mine and it worked. The pump is working , it is just froze in the spout. Make sure you have water in the line at the connection going in to the door.

No water from water spout

See if there is a sediment screen at the inlet to the filter from the faucet and see if it's obstructed or clogged. Obviously, make sure you are using the correct filter cartridge and that the filter discharge is also clean.
