Scanjet 4600 is stuck halfway through scan

You can easily resolve this issue because its not a big issue.

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

1. Unplug all cable of printers.
2. Remove USB cable, if present.
3. Wait for 2,3 minutes and press and hold the power button for few second.
4. after that unplug the printer and plug the all cable to printer.
5. Turn on the printer and wait till warm period finish and the printer is idle.

Remove scanner prog. go to www.hp.com look for update which includes Win7 download/setup.

Fill ya boots...

Although I can not be sure without testing it, the most common problem with this type of issue is that the power supply adapter has failed. According to the manual (posted at http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00215714/c00215714.pdf) this scanner has an external power adapter. Since you indicate that the scanners light does not come on, I would be inclined to believe that power adapter needs to be replaced. However, before you go and buy a new one, I would suggest you get the current adapter tested with a volt meter to determine if it is outputting the correct voltage and amperage.

If you discover that the power adapter has failed, you may be able to simply replace it in order to get the scanner up and running again. However please take note that depending on what part of the adapter circuit failed, its failure could possible have also damaged the scanner's internal circuits. However, if you find after testing that the adapter is outputting the correct voltage and amperage, then the problem would most likely be a scanner board circuitry failure.

Hi Shantala,

HP advises that, on some systems, the scanner hardware may get into an error state that will keep the scanning software from finding the 3200c ScanJet. If your scanner still isn't found after installing this driver and software update, please follow the directions below:

1. Unplug the power cable from the 3200c ScanJet.
2. Unplug the parallel cable(s) from the 3200c ScanJet.
3. Shut down the PC and wait for ten seconds.
4. Plug in the power cable to the 3200c ScanJet.
5. Plug in the parallel cable(s) to the 3200c ScanJet.
6. Power your PC on.

If you still have the problem, uninstall the driver from device manager, and download and run this .exe file version of the driver instead.. and if necessary, repeat the above steps..

Unplug your scanner and switch off your PC. Check the USB connection is secure on scanner and pc. Wait for at least one minute, then switch both back on. Your display should go back to 01 now.

Try unplugging the cord to the printer and wait a few seconds and re-plug the cord again , print what ya have to print again/hope this helps .
