SOURCE: Air handler only blows air for 3-5 minutes before shut off & not cycling frequently

Sounds like it could be a very weak run capacitor on the blower motor. Run capacitors are sized specifically to the needs of the motor. When a run cap gets weak, the motor trys to compensate for it by drawing more power. More power draw = more heat in the motor, then the motor will overheat and shut off to protect itself. When the motor cools off it will automatically restart and run until it overheats again. Keep in mind that I am a technician that normally diagnoses equipment in a hands on manner. There are many practices and concepts that transcend all air conditioning systems but it is a constantly evolving industry. I live in south eastern WA and I don't see Amana units except as window units. It is possible to have something else causing this problem (faulty thermostat, failing thermal relay(if used), problem with electronic controls(if used)) there are a lot of potential variables

SOURCE: Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan stops spinning after 15 mins

Capacitor, dirty condencer coil causing the motor amps to run too high. But most likely worn bearing on blade side of motor causing it to pull to one side causing it to over heat and shut down. Sleve bearings should have no side play.

SOURCE: Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan won't kick on

be aware that not repairing this asap that you are causing yourself more problems First I would change out the fan capacitor and see if this could be the problem. Secondly if the capacitor isn,t the problem change out the motor . By continuing to allow the system to cycle like this the compressor will take a dive on you costing more . Good Luck

Testimonial: "Yes, it's dual run capacitor problem. I used a stick to spin the fan blades and it starts to slowly spin and up to normal speed, so motor is good."

check to see if the flame rod tip is in the flame(like the hot junction on a thermocouple). the pressure switches are a normally closed switch and a blocked flue could cause them to open. the circuit board should run through the safety switches and check them before the gas is opened at the valve. also the drain lines that you see at the inducer fan should be free of condensation but if the inducer fan has condensation in it, it will open the airflow safety switch. you will hear the crackling noise from the fan. also there should be a trap below the fan that should be full of water to keep the fan from pulling air from the wrong place. I would not suspect the board at this point

Hi I have an Omni AOS - 09HR4F split system air cond and when I set it to the cooling mode the unit outside starts the fan motor running but the air coming out of the head unit inside doesnt get cold?

Could be a lot of reason why compressor is doing that .First make sure your outside unit is clean ,if not wash coil with water .If coil is clean check capicator and replaced if bad .if capicator is good then you might have a bad compressor or a leak in your system and compressor is shutting off on low pressure .
To figure this out you need to install your refrigerant guages to check

Luxpro psd111 thermostat shows snowflake (sometimes blinks), outdoor fan works, but no cool air comes out inside- no air flow at all. Is it the thermostat or an a/c unit malfunction?

If the outdoor unit is running the indoor fan should definitely be running. Turn power off to indoor unit. Put red green and yellow wires together behind the tstat with a wire nut. That is power (red), indoor fan (green), and compressor (yellow.) Turn power back on. This is bypassing the tstat and you should have indoor fan and outside running as well. If yes the problem is in the tstat, if no indoor fan the problem is in the unit. Good Luck!! Let me know!!

I have a kelvinator ksr25f split system. The green light on the front panel flashes when the unit is turned on.The unit cools ok and when the temp is cool enough the outside unit stops as normal but doesnt...

Check and make sure the outside fan is running. The KSR series Kelvinators were rebadged LG units. It is possible the 6uf fan capacitor on the outside unit has failed.

My inside and outside unit turn on fine, out side fan and compressor running good, inside blowing cool air, about four minutes after that, out side unit shutoff, no humming, nothing.

Are you heating or cooling? When the outdoor unit shuts off how does it come back on. Or are you saying that the outdoor unit is short cycling off and on

Heatpump r-22 rudd system, unit runs starts out heating then compressor stops in middle of heating ,this unit has a out side air temp. sensor just wondering if possible bad board or not

If compressor stops in middle, check the following.
1.Thermostat setting must be minimum +3 degree than your room temp
2. Check it's in heat "mode"
3. Check indoor and outdoor coils are clean.
4. Check fan motor is working alright.
5. Outside sensor and room air sensor is placed correctly.
6. Gas pressure is o.k
7.Check compressor is overheated, even all the above is o.k.

We have a MXZ-3A30NA that does not seem to be cooling down the house. Indoor temps are reading 75 to 78 degrees and the units are set at 65. We have gone through the book and have followed the check list...

Hi!!

Check the following:

Make sure the filter and the evaporator coil are clean. Also check condenser coil in the outside unit is clean.

When unit is turned on there should be (on the led display, inside unit) one green light on for the blower and another one for the compressor, both lights should be ON untill the unit reaches the preset temp. If the light for the compressor (usually the light on the right side) does not stay ON, check the outside unit.

On the outside unit, check that when turned on, both the fan and the compressor kick in and stay running. If the fan motor stops, the compressor overheats and the thermal proteccion shuts it down to prevent damage. Also, if the R22 gas is low, the low pressure switch prevents the compressor from running.

Good Luck!!

Uotside unit blowing cool air but hot on the inside

It sounds like you have a unit called a heat pump. When a heat pump unit is in cooling mode the outside unit blows hot air and the inside unit blows cold air. If the outside unit is blowing cold then the indoor unit is most likely blowing room temperature or warm air. It sounds like the thermostat could be controlling incorrectly or you could have a failed reversing valve which is the device that switches the unit from heating to cooling mode.

We have a fujitsu air con model ast9lsbcw which blows cold air from the outside unit and the inside unit is not cooling the room.

Sounds like you have it in heating mode or it is low on charge. In cooling mode, the outside fan should blow hot air not cold.
