How can I set the channel BACK to CH 3 from CH 4

Everything worked fine for 2 years. Somehow the DVD/VCR got switched to CH 4. I can still view DVD/VCRs but I can no longer receive TV stations. I have sat TV and ch 4 is used, so I need to DVD set to ch 3. Everything worked fine until the DVD inadvertently got switched to ch 4 and the manual doesn't say how to get it back to ch 3.

The manual sets out a procedure for shifting from thr default (ch 3) to ch 4 only, so I tried to follow that procedure again to reverse it in case it toggled. No luck.

What do I do now, coach?

1) Set your TV to channel 3.
2) Insert a pre-recorded tape into this unit.
3) Press the OUTPUT button on the DVD/VCR so that the VCR OUTPUT light is lit.
• If noise appears on the TV screen, press the VCR/TV button on the remote control.
4) Press the PLAY button once.
5) After a few seconds, press the PLAY button on the DVD/VCR for 3 seconds.
• The RF output channel will change to channel 3 from channel 4 and you will see a playback picture.
• When a picture does not appear on the TV screen, repeat step [4].
6) Press the STOP button to stop playback.

does the satellite receiver support channel 3? i just verified that the channel switch procedure works as in the manual for the emerson, at least it did on mine. you can also try resetting everything to the factory default (except parental menu), press menu, select initialize, select yes (click enter twice), exit the setup menu, then unplug the unit and let it set for 5 minutes, just tried it on mine and it worked.

if this doesn't do it and the above doesn't do it, not sure what to tell you.

you may be able to connect the satellite tuner through the vcr/dvd and use it as a passthrough. mine was setup that way until i stopped using it (built a mediacenter pc to take everythings place)

Sanyo vwm390 vcr

That might be the TV output channel. I found these instructions in a Sanyo manual:
How to set the DVD+VCR's RF output channel 1. Set the TV to the VCR channel (3 or 4) depending upon the selected channel. 2. When the DVD+VCR is turned off, press and hold CHANNEL (V/v) on the front panel for more than five seconds. It will turn itself on and "RF03" or "RF04" appears in the dis-play window. 3. Press CHANNEL (V/v) on the front panel or CH/TRK(v/V) on the remote control to change the RF output channel (CH 03 or CH 04). 4. Turn off the DVD+VCR.

It might solve the problem!

Internally change channel 3 to 4 on VCR

Hi, In most VCRs, as you have posted, there is a switch at the back where you can select the output to either Ch 3 or 4. In some cases, the switch is deep inside and you have to remove a small squarish rubber covering to expose the hole. It is normally close to the antenna input/output. More often than not it is a simple sliding 2 position switch. You would need any tool that can reach and sturdy enough to slide the switch. Internally program output channel selector is very possible, I would guess that its selectable via the menu set-up tabs. A question pls, How did you "I tried to manually change the channel to 4, but the VCR reverted back to channel 3..." Hope this be of some help to you. Pls post again how things turn up or further information. Good luck and kind regards.

I recently installed a Comcast digital adapter to my SONY RDR-VX515 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo and then onto the TV. Now, when I try to program the VCR to record, the only channel options are Ch 4, Line 1 and...

Hi and welcome to FixYa

Initially, postback the model number of the Comcast digital adapter and the TV.

Offhand, if the Comcast digital adapter is connected to the Sony through a coaxial patchcord, then the Sony would really have to be set to Ch 4 (or 3). Channel selection is done on the Comcast digital adapter. It is not possible to record one channel while viewing another.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa

Sony VHS model no: SLV-SE710G isn't recording now that we have a freeview box. It just keeps changing back to L1 whenever i try to record anything!! I only want to record channels 1,2,3,4 !! HELP!!

Its hard to work out without looking at your cables. I assume the problem started when the freeview box got set up. I would guess that the aerial cable is now in the set top box instead of the vcr as the vcr sounds like it is unable to record when there's no signal (a common feature) so there shouldn't be a fault with the vcr,

just unplug the aerial from the set top box & plug it back into the vcr. Ch 1 2 3 4 should be back on vcr but set top box wont have any Ch.

most set top boxes have an aerial output, so you'll need another aerial cable, plug this into the aerial input on the vcr & ch 1 2 3 4 will be there but these will be analog (if your area has stopped analog transmission thats the prob rite there)

If you plug the matching cables from the set top box into L1 on vcr you'll be able to record digital tv as L1 use a signal from another tuner eg set top box, dvd player whereas the vcr channels 1 2 3 4 use the vcr's built in analog tuner. so it shouldn't be a biggie another cable should fix it,

Hope this is helpful, ask if you need more info

I need playback channel for tv to be ch.4 -

Solution 1

How to set the DVD Recorder+VCR’s RF output channel
Turn off the DVD Recorder+VCR, then press and hold
CH (v/V) on the front panel for about five
seconds to change the RF output channel (CH 03 or
CH 04). “RF 03” or “RF 04” appears on the front panel display.

Solution 2

Cable Service With Cable Box
If a cable box is required in your cable system, follow the
instructions shown below. This hookup permits both TV and
DVD Recorder+VCR operation.
To view or record a CATV channel:
1 Tune the TV to the correct video input channel.
2 Set the DVD Recorder+VCR to the output channel of the
cable box using the CH (v / V) or the 0-9 keys on your DVD
Recorder+VCR (e.g., CH3).
3 Select the channel you wish to view on the cable box.

Connections

Without the manual !!
1)VCR INPUT:: [Cable_antenna In] the coxial screws on from "output" of cable box or ( airwave )antenna.
2) VCR output:: connect another coxial into input of TV. You should be able to keep all the other wires connected from SONY theater system.
note:: your VCR has a switch for VCR\TV. When u have a VHS tape playing a movie & switch from VCR to TV, you will see the channel that is on the VCR not the cable box\ antenna input.
example:Cable channel is on Ch.122, & your TV must be set to Ch.3 to view cable. If your VCR is set to Ch/5 you may not see that Ch.122.You will still be able to see your VHS tape when u place the VCR\TV switch back to VCR.
I am going to share wt.u a $100,000,000.00 trick:put any ch.on cable box.Switch VCR\TV to TV,change channel ON VHS tuner. When u come to the [picture] that the cable box is on,Then that is the Ch.u can see cable ON the VHS.
U owe me!!

Trying to watch vcr on channel 4, but the vcr is set to channel 3

You can watch the TV programs
with the tuner of the unit. (Usually
channel 3 or 4 of the TV is
available for the RF converter
setting.) Be sure to connect the
unit to a TV using the RF cable.
1
Select channel 3 on your TV.
2
Press [VIDEO/TV] on the remote
control.
• If noise appears, change the
RF output channel of the unit to
CH 4 by pressing [VIDEO/TV]
for 3 seconds. The RF output
channel will alternate between
CH3 and CH4

Will only display on ch 3

You will need to take the original remoter and go into the menu, find the channel set up and reprogram the VCR for the channels, as when you lost power the channels also went out because of the memory chips need the power to hold the data.
