How do I set my canom MG5520 printer to print only black

5b00 is a general "printer service error" which may indicate a foreign object in the printhead path or paper path. Open it up and check carefully inside at each end for a wedge of paper or something that may interfere with the printhead.

This error code usually refers to an object in the printhead path. Open the machine to get the printhead to the centre and pull the power plug. Move the printhead out of the way and check at each end of the cavity for a foreign object or crunched up hunk of inky paper. Remove any such found. If there is nothing there, check again, and then carefully wipe the "clear" plastic strip that runs through the back of the printhead. Place the printhead back into the cleaning station and power it up again. Hopefully that will address you problems.

Remove all cartridges, clean the ink from where the cartridges make contact with cloth,(paper towels can leave trash in there) be sure all is clean then replace the cartridges and print something. Those streaks shouldn't be there any longer.

Hi. Check the print settings if its set to "draft", change it to "normal" or "best". Let me know what settings you have tried already so I can make a solution that you haven't tried yet.

More than likely what you want is a gray scale image and not a true Black and White image. If you tell the printer to print Black and White for a photo, you will lose all the gray shades available between the black and white bookends.

Normally, you can set the printer to print grayscale only from the driver properties page.

Well, when it comes to PDF files i found a solution. When u click the "print" icon, u get the "print" window. If u leave it as is, u will get a format/paper size error when trying to type several pages, as described by u. However, if u unmark the "Choose paper source by PDF page size", it will print as many pages as u want.

So...If u have trouble printing pages, it may work if u turn your pages into PDF format and follow the instruction above :)
