I think you can through the data assistant tool to detect your phone quickly, even your phone is broken, it can be detected quickly.
You just need to choose the files to back up the computer, then connect your new phone on computer, copy the data like contacts to your new phone.
You need to contact your service provider/carrier with whom the number is with. Tell them you want to "port the number across". They will need the number of the new phone, which will carry on working with that number for a few days. They will give you a date for the "port across" and then the new phone will will have the number you have requested to be moved over and the old phone will cease to work until a new SIM card is inserted. At least that is the way it works in the UK, I have done it a few times and have had the same number for a few years on at least 4 different phones.
If you need to transfer your old mobile number from one network sim to another network sim means try number portability. It's one of the best and safest way.For porting, try to do the following steps.
1.You will need your PAC(Porting authorisation code) from your current network service.
2.Then contact your new mobile service and tell them your PAC.They will provide your new sim card with your old mobile number.
After getting your new sim card,Make sure your phone is unlocked one.If it's restricted by single network means, try to unlock your mobile before swap your sim.For unlocking visit Mobile-Unlocker.com
You will have to transfer your contacts one at a time. To export a contact's phone number to a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card in a BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
Open the Address Book application from the BlackBerry smartphone Home screen.
Click the contact that you want to transfer to your SIM card.
Highlight the phone number you would like to transfer.
Display the menu on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Click Copy to SIM Phone Book.
Make sure that you are attempting to transfer the correct informaton to your SIM card.
Display the menu on the BlackBerry smartphone, and click Save.
It's not anywhere in the literature. Before you remove the sim from the old phone copy the address book into the old sim. Then take the old sim out of the old phone and then put it in the new phone. Copy from the old sim into the new phone. Then take out the old sim and put in the new sim and copy from the new phone into the new sim. Your all set.
