I used the panasonic SD formatter to format my SD card for use with my Wii console, But it formatted it to 1GB, when it is actually a 4GB card, is there anyway i can fix this? I have used the Windows formatter and that does not work either

Any size SD card will work. The capacity limit is with the card, not the camera. All the camera does is serve as a recorder/reader for the card.

If you have a card reader or a printer with an SD card slot in it, try formatting the card or deleting all files on it using a PC. My laptop has a slot built-in I'm able to use. Check out your options. Try formatting it outside of your camera. I've heard of some card swapping between brands of cameras doing crazy stuff as you are experiencing.
SOURCE: How can you format a SD 4gb card for the Kodak
You can't. The Z612 uses SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card and is incompatible with SD devices.
For SD cards (2GB and smaller), you'll find the Format operation in the Setup menu. Press the Menu button, then use up/down to select the wrench, then press OK.

The Z700 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card (the HC stands for High Capacity) and will not work in the Z700. You'll have to stay with SD cards 2GB and smaller.
