Hi.

I experienced the lens error message after taken the camera to the beach. Sure enough, there was sand all over the lens mechanism. First, I cleaned the area by blowing air to remove all sand particles (this took me almost a day). In my case, I did not have to remove the lens from the body of the camera. Once clean from dirt, sand or any other foreign object replace the batteries.

SOURCE: lens error

This can work with CoolPix S10
1) Remove battery.
2) Replace Battery (Insure it is fully charged)
3) Press the Shooting/Preview button and keep pressing it while you press the power on button. This tells the camera to go into PREVIEW MODE without checking the lens. See if you can preview a few photos and that it works in preview - If it does NOT I cannot help you here.
4) If the Camera Works in Preview mode then press the Shooting/Preview button to put it back into "Take Photo Mode".
5) There can be a delay but it starts up without the lens error.
6) Make sure the ZOOM IN and OUT works and in most cases if the lens operates then you can take a photo. If the Zoom in and Out does not work you have a jammed lens.
7) If the LENS is Jammed AND it is OUT of warranty you 'might' want to tap the lens barrel against your palm. I have found when you remove the battery you can gently tap the lens into telephoto mode by tapping the back of lens assembly into your palm.

SOURCE: lens error message on nikon

Hi,
When system control does not get lens initialize signal while extending it, then it try again by folding it and extending and still no required initialize signal then generate error and stop further functions.

Please remove battery and open camera and remove flexible wire of lens mechanism from connector, there would be lock that needs to release to remove flexible wire. Clean wire terminals with alcohol, let it dry and put back flexible wire in connector and lock it. Now put battery and power camera up, hopefully lens will work properly.

Hit "add a comment" button for further query / info.
Thanks.

SOURCE: Re Nikon S220 digital camera. Lens error noted -

A tiny bit of grit can jam the gears of the lens. Sometimes a tap can knock it out. Try this at your own risk. Take out the batteries. Don't hit the camera on a hard surface, just use you hand. If it hurts, that is too hard. Try lens down, then all the sides.

Sanyo digital camera showing lens error 1114 or 112

Hi.

If your Sanyo digital camera is not starting and you get lens error 112 or lens error 1114 prompted on display, that means that the lens is getting stuck, and cannot extend or retract fully. The controller board detects the error on startup, and shuts down after displaying the error message.
This errors usually happen because of dirt, or because the lens mechanis mis damaged in consequence of a shock.

If lens does not retract, try helping the lens back, without putting too much strenght, while you turn off the camera at he same time.
If the lens does not extend, try tapping softly the back of the camera to help lens out, while you turn off the camera at he same time.
If the camera had been exposed to sand or dust, try blowing canned air on the lens.

If this does not work, the lens assembly must be taken apart completely and re-assembed, and for that you need a camera repair shop.

Also call the number listed on the owners manual to get support from the manufacturer.

Error message 5e02: 5f08

Error 5e02: 5f08 means lens error.

Try resetting the camera, by removing the batteries, and by holding down Ok/function button while you turn the camera on.

If the lens do not extract, try helping them out by gently slapping the back of the camera while you turn it on. If they do not retract, try helping the lens back in while turning off the camera.

If that does not help, then the camera need repair service.

Lens error, restart camera

Lens error is usually caused by mechanical faults concerning lens assembly. The lens cannot extend or retract fully, the error is detected and lens error is returned.
Sometimes this can be fixed playing with the lens during extraction or retraction to help the lens asset getting back to normal.
More often the camera lens must be disassembled and re-assembled by a technician to fix the problem.

Lens error, restart camera

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

I was getting the Lens Error message on my A730, even though my lens seemed to be working fine. I'd had the camera in my pocket, and apparently it tried to open but jammed. But it seemed to be OK except for the cursed Lens Error message when I'd power it on. The way I found to fix it is press and hold the "func/OK" button on the back, then turn the camera on. Now it's working again. Note that this may not work for you if your lens is actually screwed up. Mine wasn't.

Camera lens

My camera did the same thing. Try doing a couple of things.

1) remove and digital media cards.
2) turn the camera on and delete any pictures that may be stored in the camera memory (not on a removeable card)
3) remove the batteries for 60 seconds
4) replace the batteries without the media card and lay the camera on a flat surface with the lens pointing up (not sure if this helps, but it worked for me)
5) The lens should retract.
6) Turn off the camera
7) replace the media card and turn on.

I think for some reason my camera was getting hung up on the pictures stored in the camera's memory.
