John Deere Snowblower 1032 won't start. Obvious solution?

First dump the old gas and put in fresh. Clean or replace spark plug.
Put a squirt of starting fluid in the carb. If it fires the ignition system is good. Do this a few times because there is still old gas in the float bowl and fuel line. When the fresh gas gets to the carb it will stay running. If it did not fire with starting fluid the points and condensor will need to be replaced and maybe the coil.

My briggs & stratton will not start

If the engine fires on starting fluid, then you are missing fuel, so you need to start with the source, is fuel getting to the carb? if not why not. Check fuel lines, shut off valves and filters.
If it is, is the carb float allowing the bowl to fill?
If there is fuel in th float bowl, then you need to look at mixture and idle settings.

hope this is of some help.

How to prep my engine??

Best if you put a half gallon of gas in the tank when it is off the bike. Shake the tank really good then dump the gas into a clear bowl. Probably a lot of rusty trash in the gas. Do this a couple of times to at least give the CARBS a fighting chance to start the bike.
ADD AN IN-LINE FUEL FILTER BEFORE GETTING GAS TO THE CARBS!

To prevent a fire, hook up the air filters to the CARBS. Have a fire extinguisher handy. Trust me on this. I do not want to make hospital calls. Spray starting fluid is fine. Spray into the area of the air filter intake. Don't you dare try to start the motor without first talking to your best buddy motorcycle Guru.
