I have a black screen after replacing dlp chip. I have double checked all connections. The lamp doesn't come on and tv shuts down after about a minute.

After 1st try I had black horizontal stripes so I took the new chip back out and made sure it was locked in properly with the screw on the side but now all I get is a black screen, I've had it apart 5 or 6 times. All of the screws are in place, all wires are connected. The lamp worked before I took it apart. The timer light blinks, when it stops I power it on and have static sound but black screen and then it shuts down after about 1 minute.

SOURCE: RCA 50" dlp lamp dead?

There are many different problems with RCA televisions. One could be a color wheel. Another could be a bad ballast. www.Lamp-Replacement.com has a guide and solutions for your RCA lamp 265866 or 270414. The problem is most likely a bad ballast, which is supposed to pre-charge your lamp and ignite it. If you aren't even getting to that stage, you can trace the problem to another component or power supply.

SOURCE: Panasonic PT-50DL54J DLP TV Flashing Light

I had the same problems that most of you have been having, tv turning on and off, lights flashing in all different colors, having to unplug tv to reset and all of that good stuff. I noticed that most of the time this would happen once the tv would start to heat up, and I could hear the fan working a little harder. Well I am not an electrician but It was very simple to unscrew the lower bottom park of the tv, where the fan and most of the electronics sit, then I used an oxygen tank ( I work for a medical company ) to blow out all the dust in the tv, ( you can olso use the compressed air use for computer, but if grandma or grampa have some O2 laying around, it works really good, LOL. )and was very surpriced to see how dusty it was, then I removed the MAIN FAN ( you only need to remove three screws, however there's a box in fron of it, which you'll have to remove first in order to get to the fan ). this may sound a little complicated, but trust me it is not, once you have taken the fan off, clean it all the way around ( best to use a clean rag, the compressed air was not doing the job.
long story short, once I cleaned the fan and put it all back together. The TV still didn't work LOL, Just kidding, It has been working perfect for a little over a week.
If I can help in any other way, please e-mail me @ [email protected]

hope this helps.

I just replaced the dlp chip and now have a black screen & sound. I already checked tge lamp & fans and they are working. Any ideas as to what went wrong?

Could be;
Faulty DLP chip caused by static when fitting.
Wrong DLP chip.
Video driver chip issues.
Follow the service manual schematics and with your oscilloscope, find out if the timing is correct.

I still get a blank screen after replacing DLP chip and lamp. Any suggestions. Can you use cleaning duster to clean?

is the lamp turning on, if not then there may be a problem with the inverter board. or the bulb is faulty, bulbs can become faulty in transit.

Samsung dlp tv picture turns off sound stays on

Hello
Check whether the lamp life hours are going to be out. Refer to its user manual for details. DLP chips fault is very rare; unless you have handled them very carefully. Check the lamp and BALLAST baord that supplies voltage to lamp.
Picture of the ballast baord to your TV is attached.2_29_2012_10_35_36_am.jpg

Looks like a black thumbprint blocking 1/3 of the screen. No LED's lit on front of TV. Started as black dots, and filled in almost completely. Initial lamp lasted 2 years. The replacement lamp lasted 3...

It looks like DLP chip is failing. It is installed on DMD board that in turn belongs to optical engine. Issue should get progressively worse. If you look at screen up close - you see that "tumbprint" consist of little small dark-gray squares, some of them flickering.
Cheapest solution - to replace DLP chip. instead of replacing whole optical engine.
This repair have to be confirmed (by running test patterns in service mode first) and done by professional.
Repair could cost aroung $400.
During procedure I would recommend to turn ceiling fans and other air blowing devices off. Single little dust speckle landing on the chip surface will ruing all effort and same amount of labor have to be applied yet again just to get rid of it (been there, done it).
Good luck.
Russ.
