I have recently fixed a Smart TV which had a smashed screen and T-Con and obviously the strip for T-Con board so anyway i got parts from TV I had and was going to try and repair seemed a bit daft throwing it out just because it would not start up it light up just standby light so i got this smart TV and ended up taking the bits from my old one which was not a Smart TV and i used the T-Con board and other bits so with this now having parts from a non Smart would i loose certain functions or just any functions because it runs proper mint the picture and sound that it gives out is a lot better than the Smart TV i bought but when i go in menu to adjust settings and Network connection i get connection well TV says connected but thats it theirs no sign of internet menu or Apps it is just like it was before connection so i am thinking it is either that T-Con board or when it got smashed that might of damaged it i can get another board but i do not want to have to take apart again because it was really risky because the Smarts T-con was at bottom like where you have button to switch on and i had to use front from old TV Right carry on but i managed it one more thing it will not install software updates it does the routine asks if i want to install starts install but gets to 99% then stops for couple of seconds then hits 100% but straight after says update failed it does everything else all the settings everything but those two internet and software i have been in main settings Service menu and WiFi is listed and software upgrades but i do not have the service results to adjust it and i did not want to take chance,so if there is anyone with bit of know how who can help me if it is because of T-con i will attempt to open it back up but do not just do it to try that.oh one more thing i am not using the original remote but i do not think that is out to do with it and Samsung Help desk changed IP address and done a reset still no joy they said contact ISP.if there is someone out there who can help i would be grate full i have service result printouts they ended up on my USB.
The Tcon board only controls the picture on the screen. nothing else. The main board has the extra circuits to make it a smart tv. Get a main board for the smart tv and your problems will go away.
Testimonial: "HI thanks for answer but before i put back together i had someone check them because i got ball kicked at it then fell that is why i had to put different front i sent pics did you not see them i only tried it because those Smart TVs there is nothing to them compared to older LCD/LED so what on main board will have been damaged and do you know where is best place and will it have to be exactly the same its i am thinking of doing another ha. How much are they and i will only need model of TV won't i..?Thanks again."
SOURCE: got a new T-con but no luck
is your back light constantly on when you are not changing channels.if so replace the main board. can you see a menu if you hit the menu button ? that is generated by your main board..... replacing the t-con will only correct vertical lines in the pic.
SOURCE: I just changed the main power board, and
You need to try the following:
Check the power supply caps and voltages. Reseat the ribbon cables between the T-CON board (Timing Control board) which drive the LCD panel rows and columns, it get the LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signals) form the main board which has the VIDEO processor to drive the T-CON board.
When T-CON is dead you will see glowing screen without video, or when it has timing problem you will see lines, rolling, multiple pictures, pixelating.
The main board supplys switched 12vdc to power the T-CON board.
You need to do more checking.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

SOURCE: Hi, I have searched all over
If you can see an image and it's OK - no distortions or corruption - then it's not an image problem, it's a backlighting problem. This means that the faulty part is not the T-con or any other board that works on the image, it's the inverter - the board that powers the tubes that generate the lighting for the screen.
Since i don't know the exact model of your tv i can't be sure this is the exact part. But if you own - as i suspect - an 37RV530U then here it is

You will get a white screen when you unplug the t-con from the main board. Doing so removes power to the LCD panel. Verify that all of your voltages from the power supply are correct. If they are, I'd look at the t-con board. It sounds like there is a problem with the t-con that is pulling down the main board.

Stop buying hot TVs folks. If you bought it legit, you can take it back.
